Called in on our travels. Absolutely fantastic. From the service, the food and the cameraderie upon arrival. The menu choice is great and the beers were beautiful. The gardens are a lovely spot to rest from the drive and dogs are made welcome too. And I have to mention Boots. What a personable pooch. Came here for lunch. It's a very traditional pub with a roaring fire, beautiful building and quirky decor. Very dog friendly. Food was of good portions, hot and tasty. Our party had calamari, spring rolls and pate to start, followed by seafood mornay, scampi and chilli, from a pretty substantial menu. There were a couple of vegetarian options, but the focus seemed to be more traditional pub grub. They weren't serving desserts, but starters and mains were filling enough.
