Pine Room
4.5 / 5 (103 reviews)

Description

Nestled within Austins department store, the Pine Room restaurant has garnered mixed reviews that highlight its charm and potential drawbacks. Diners appreciate the diverse menu, friendly service, and pleasant atmosphere, making it an inviting spot to relax while shopping. Items like freshly made sandwiches and cakes receive praise for quality and portion sizes. However, issues such as slow service during busy times, unreliable Wi-Fi, and occasional disruptions like vacuuming while customers dine have detracted from some experiences. Overall, the Pine Room presents a delightful respite for shoppers, with room for improvement to match its high expectations.

The restaurant offers excellent food at a good price in a pleasant environment within a high-end retail store that provides all the shopping essentials. The store is well-staffed and a joy to visit for both shopping and dining.

I have been coming to this restaurant for around 40 years, on and off. The atmosphere is pleasant, the food and service are consistently good. There is a good variety of food options, including gluten-free choices. Unfortunately, I realized I didn't receive enough change until I was already on my way home. This means I will have to go back to collect the missing £10 note, which I won't be spending in the Pine Room again.

Stopped here on the off chance as I fancied a salad for lunch and glad I did. My egg and prawn salad was made fresh and still delivered quickly. At first I thought it was a little on the expensive side but the portion size was really good so was value for money. There was ample seating, some of this extends into the department store itself but I don’t think it would ever get really noisy even when busy. They have a fairly wide ranging menu so definitely worth a visit. The only negative thing is a poor phone signal and no free Wifi with slow 3G

Always enjoyed popping in for A coffee or tea, with something to eat. The toilet facilities are nice too and not too far away from the restaurant

We visited for 'elevenses '. The Covid19 precautions include assigning tables to customers before queuing for food and drink. Since the 'Eat out to help out ' scheme was in operation we decided to have a bacon sandwich as well as coffee and cake. The Covid19 precautions made service a little slow, but it was still friendly. The sandwich was prepared to order, served quite quickly, and was very good in quality and quantity. The drinks and cakes were good. Table clearing and sanitising was prompt and thorough. Definitely recommended
