Called in on a Saturday for a light lunch on our way to Torquay, at 1.00pm only 19 customers in the restaurant very quiet for a Saturday with four waiting staff. Ordered smoked salmon sandwiches on white bread served very stale cheap quality sliced white bread on complaining the cost of two out of three sandwiches deducted from our bill.
The cafe provided us with a delicious, traditional cream tea on our visit, perfect after our tour of the house and there's it's pleasant to sit in the courtyard to eat it with a view of the house.
This is a cafe in the courtyard of Powderham Castle. It's a welcome respite to have a lovely Devonshire Cream Tea whilst admiring the Castle. They have multiple combinations of cream tea. Absolutely love the clotted cream A real Devonshire cream tea is hard to beat when the sun is shining and you are in the grounds of a wonderful castle
We experienced a significant wait for service at the restaurant, and when our pots of tea arrived, they forgot to bring us milk and spoons. Additionally, other customers also had to wait a long time for staff to notice them. The tea itself was enjoyable, but the restaurant could improve its service.
