Chippies Plaice - Teignbridge
Chippies Plaice
Description
Chippies Plaice has long held a reputation for exceptional fish and chips, attracting loyal customers over the years. Recent visits, however, tell a story of inconsistency post-change in ownership. While some patrons still enjoy friendly service and freshly prepared meals, others report undercooked chips and poor-quality items. Concerns about food safety have also emerged, with a few diners experiencing unpleasant reactions. Despite the mixed feedback, the restaurant maintains its charm with a committed staff. Whether it can recapture its former glory remains to be seen, but for many, it's a place worth visiting again.

I recently tried the standard large sausage and chips at this restaurant, and to say I was disappointed would be an understatement. Ever since the new owners took over, the chips have been delicious with a generous portion size. However, today (4th), I was lucky to find a chip with any potato inside, as most were just crispy shells. Additionally, the sausage could have been cooked a bit more. Unfortunately, we won't be returning to this establishment.
The fish and chips were delicious, and the staff was very friendly and cheerful. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
The fish was very good, but the chips were not outstanding. We were the only two people in the restaurant, and the chairs at the other tables were still up. We were not asked if we were satisfied, only after we went to pay.
