What Jered doesn't like about Donabe Asian Kitchen:
Like many other restaurants in Taos currently, this restaurant is experiencing a shortage of staff. Despite this, they managed the situation well. The menu offered a good variety of options, but many dishes were heavy on the sauce. For example, the roasted Brussels sprouts had a tasty sauce, but they were also drenched in oil, making them difficult to eat cleanly. We opted for the make-your-own bowl option, but each... Didn’t hate it, didn’t love it. Fancy placed so it was kinda expensive BUT they did have very fresh food. We could tell that everything was very good quality. The pho didn’t taste at all like pho (or what I’m used to as eating pho from a lot of different places throughout the years). Wasn’t a huge fan of it. Would try something different next time. This was just my opinion though, I’m sure others would love it. Vegan options available so that’s a plus.
We were looking for something with some variety in Taos and came across this place. We rang in advance to make sure they had dishes that were vegan or could be easily veganized and they had numerous menu items available! We shared the green and red curry with tofu, the spring rolls and delicious sweet chili sambal fries. I wish we’d found this place the night before... we definitely would have gone 2 nights in a row. Their lunch menu also has some great vegan options too!

We were looking for some variety in Taos and stumbled upon this restaurant. We called ahead to ensure they had vegan options or could modify dishes to be vegan, and we were pleased to find that they had a lot of choices on the menu. The sambal fries and tofu are drizzled with honey. Be sure to request the bahn mi sandwich without butter or mayo. Be cautious of hidden animal ingredients in some dishes. The veggie pad Thai unexpectedly contains fish sauce.
