Well I’ve been getting takeaway food from here for the past year, I never ever thought I’d review a takeaway Chinese in the UK. I’ve traveled extensively throughout China and spent many months, if not cumulative years there. The front of house is hard of hearing and a bit rude but whoever cooks the food is doing a great job, I order different dishes and I’m always surprised by the quality, these are HK people, they l... What Livelane doesn't like about New Century:
We have been frequenting New Century for a number of years now and have always found the food to be decent at worst. However, lately we have noticed a decline in quality. It seems like they may have different chefs working on different evenings because the quality of the food varies drastically. Our last two meals were not up to the standard we had come to expect from New Century. In fact, our last meal was very oily... View all feedback.
Gone downhill, sadly. This is our third visit, the previous takeaways we’ve bought exceeded our expectations and were worth the extra distance from our home town. Yes, the crudely constructed covid floor to ceiling barriers together with airlock hatches for making payments and receiving food seem a bit disrespectful of their customers when the pandemic is officially over. Also if you are going to be paranoid in 2023 about covid, why do you accept cash only and are happy to touch it and count it? But that is their personal preference and if they provide a good service I will happily pass my (possibly infected) money through the hatch. Sadly the standard on this visit was a 2 star. Everyone has a bad day sometimes, the previous visits would be 5 star rated. The staff I saw weren’t the same this time so perhaps some key personnel were on holiday or the business has been sold on? If I see the lady from before behind the counter again I’ll give it another try, but on the basis of the last visit I couldn’t recommend it.
Ordered a Chinese from here really rude lady took my order. I paid for order she gave me change but no rececipt . The following day I went in with my partner as he wanted something. She said hello darling to me then told my partner I didn’t pay for my order when I did. I have requested to see ctv cameras which her response was the Chinese chef said I hadnt paid she then said he doesn’t speak English. She then asked what would we like to order. Why don’t they give receipt as if I had one I would be able to show them I paid . Why didn’t she respond when I asked for ctv to be checked. How I was spoken to has really upset me . I will never order from their again and not recommend. They only except cash not card .Why is this? And why do they not provide receipts. Avoid or if you decide to go in take a picture on your phone when paying so you can prove you paid when the nasty woman accuses you of not paying!

Look it’s local takeaway Chinese food but the quality is superb!
Really rude ladt taking order. Gave me wrong order. Portions really small. I thought I'd give them a try as used to go there all the time years ago. Not again. Tim Ley East Grinstead beats them hands down....
Ordered a collection at peak time. Food was cold and had to be reheated at home. Duck was over cooked, dry and tasteless. Noodle dishes and rice all had the same taste, no authenticity in the flavour and boring. Burnt crackers! Overall a very boring meal that filled a hole nothing more, no effort placed on taste or end product pride for customer satisfaction. To top it all we all had stomach ache for 2 days! Look elsewhere
