The pizzas at this restaurant are incredible! They are some of the best pizzas I have ever had. The beans are also really juicy. I highly recommend this place. PS: Make sure to try the pumpkin soup, it is amazing. View all feedback.
What Christopher Simpson doesn't like about Young Alfred:
I guess it would have been faster if I had ordered my pizza from italy. 30 minutes! from waiting! They can not be slow in this business, our start breaks are just an hour not years! View all feedback.
Located in the old Customs House opposite Circular Quay. Best food at a reasonable price in this area. That is, much better food than the Circular Quay eateries but much better prices than the Opera House area. We ate inside as it was a wet...and windy day. We had veal, ocean trout, pasta, pizza and vegetarian. All of the dishes were tasty, a decent size and served promptly. The food was excellent and we added an extra dish for our youngest member when he stated it was the best pasta he had eaten! The wine list is good but pricier than we are used to (not living in Sydney). An excellent Margaret River Cab-Sav was AUD $63. Now on our 'Recommend ' List.
We chose to have lunch here on a recent visit to Sydney because it was in close proximity to our Hotel where we were staying and it was situated in a quiet area away from the maddening crowds of Circular Quay. It is a far...better choice if you are looking for a nice restaurant with a good atmosphere. It is located in the Customs House building and has indoor and outdoor seating areas available. We chose to sit indoors as it was nice and peaceful. The meals we chose for lunch and coffee we were very pleased with, along with the service by the courteous staff. We would certainly revisit.
Stopped in there for a quick bite. The service was pleasant and the food arrived fast enough for me, granted I wasn’t in a hurry and was having a lazy stroll around Sydney. We had the pumpkin/zucchini/feta fritters with some bruschetta and a glass of...wine. Nothing outstanding but tasty enough to keep the afternoon rolling along.

We visited on a very quiet evening in January. There were only 2 other small groups (2 and 4 people each) in the restaurant besides the 3 of us. We were all there by 6:15, and had ordered by 6:25pm. Nothing happened until 7:25, when...the table of 2 was given a paper bag and rushed out of the restaurant looking furious presumably this was their dinner and they were late for a 7:30 show and then the table of 4 got up and walked out without receiving any food at all. Our meals eventually arrived at 7:45pm, an hour and twenty minutes after we placed the order. The waitresses never bothered giving us an explanation for the delay, much less apologising for the inconvenience, even when I asked them why the food was so slow. This is far from the kind of service I would expect from any restaurant, much less one which is as expensive as this one! I've had much better service in a food court! I even emailed the management of the restaurant to tell them about our experience and guess what they didn't bother replying either. My advice is to never, ever go to the Young Alfred. There are much better places at Circular Quay.
