Since the previous rating has said, this is a pub type of restaurant. So it is good for a casual eating names or groups. It is Greek / Australia Fusion and very solid food. Most dishes I have tried are great and cheap. I recommend the lamb rib, a bit greasy, but it is great. I also recommend the dessert too. Grief

What Bessie Grimes doesn't like about The Civic Hotel:
I went last night, very disappointed I thought I was in a Chinese restaurant very average food, one of bark meat dishes the meat was really gone. if they love Thai food stay away! View all feedback.
I recently sat with a group to lunch. I was not aware that it was present in the hotel civic on the top floor. I could not harm the food that was tasteful and generous. combined with very good service it is a winner. highly recommended.
At our short visit to sydney we were looking for a beautiful Thai restaurant near our arrival. peppercorn at civic turned out to be an excellent choice. the selected dishes were fresh, aromatic and tasty; service friendly and efficient and to supplement it all...off, inexpensive. the ambiente is relaxed and comfortable when they are hard to hear can be a little loud when they are busy. visit this restaurant in any case at our next visit.
Had dinner here whilst in Sydney on business. Very slow service. Entree of chicken satay was really disappointing. Tough chicken. Tasteless sauce. Main was better. Crying tiger salad. Tasty and a good size. A bit of a mixed bag
Only get to Sydney once every year or two, but when I do I like Peppercorn for a no fuss, tasty dinner. I always have the red duck curry, but this time I had had red chicken curry at home the night before so I...deviated......the beetle leaf starter is very sweet and tasted a lot like granola, the prawn pad thai was underwhelming. Dinner was saved by basil and chilli stir fry with seafood- delish. Next time I will have to stick with this and get back on to that duck curry.
Just got home from dinner at the Peppercorn at the civic hotel. This was my 5th or 6th visit but I haven’t been since Feb 18. Over the years, I have had my two of bday celebrations there as well other special dinners and I...was always willing to travel into the city for this restaurant. Unfortunately this restaurant has changed the Cambodia and Loas part of the menu has disappeared and to be honest while the food was good, I didn’t think it was the same as my previous visits in fact I was disappointed tonight. Unfortunate I don’t think I will be back.
