Great atmosphere and food. All dishes were great, but it was the beef jaw that stole the show. The fried beef cheek was incredibly tender and the paired sauce made it even more amazing. Grief

The waiters and waitress were very attentive and thus explaining every court. It was a great experience and I would definitely come back. View all feedback.
What Kelly C doesn't like about Sasaki:
Booked a dinner using their online system. Rocked up to the place dressed to the nines, only to find out they're closed down permanently. Their phone line's been cut off, none of their social medias said anything about them closing them. Very disappointing. View all feedback.
Disappointing. A missed opportunity. These were the thoughts that went through my head when I left this picturesque restaurant, hiding in a quiet alley on the edge of the CBD. Grief The marketing of Sasaki has a simple Japanese cooking and the ink-top-stamped issue on their "hay-infused Washi" placemats grow lyrically to appreciate the simplicity in design. In view of the passionate justification of the neighborhood of the restaurant, I should have been prepared for what ultimately represents as a normal experience. Grief The atmosphere is useful and uncomfortable. The dining area has stool without back (not ideal for a 2.5-hour Omakase), exposed concrete slab and bright hardwood benches, the evocative of IKEA furniture are as Japanese simplicity. I have only discovered a table for two near the kitchen entrance. All other couples have to sit at the bar (more later). Grief Unfortunately, the 80 US dollar Omakase turned out to be uneven like the decor. On paper, the menu seemed like a beautiful balance of seafood, vegetable and meat dishes - a single sydney rock oyster with vinaigrette, each, shrimp ceviche, salmon and fennel tartare, asparagus tempura with a messy beetroot sauce, An almost flavless crab chawanmushi, mild-robbone duck in a shiitake broth (if I remember correctly), beef Bourguinon with butter carcass potato, and a bowl of rice cooked with chicken and shiitake. To exit, select a dessert from your usual dessert menu. It sounds like a lot of food, but be warned - this is one of these restaurants serving tasting dishes on a single unit pilot - a pet pear of me. Grief My favorite dish was the beefbourguinone and potato puree, but I had to question his place on the Omakase among the other traditional Japanese courts. Grief I am not an opponent of simplicity - in fact I believe that just the simplest is, especially when it comes to Japanese cuisine. Sasaki is the first time as simply all dishes were. They were well built from simple, cost-effective ingredients, but how the Omakase was introduced, it never seemed to build anything. There was not a great final - just a bleed plate after another. Neither my taste members nor my stomach were satisfied with what was served that night. Grief I would have given Sasaki a rating of 3.5, it did not have for a few disappointing observations: Grief - Nothing happens at the bar. The Waitstaff prepare drinks with the back to you. - Your mojito consists of impeccable leaves, ice and cascade lime and soda pre-mix of a can. - Tea is served with hot water from a kitchen tap, which is strangely serving as the heart of the bar. Grief Sasaki has the foliage of something big, but it missed the license plate in my visit awful. Whatever you do to get the hype train when opening, it does not do anymore.

The food is average average. The best court I really enjoy is shrimp, pork and two little delicious dessert. The staff are friendly. One thing I do not like is that I actually booked 2 weeks in advance to make sure I get a table, but it ends, but I have to sit on the counter. You do not have a reserve sign on the table at all when I arrive in the restaurant. I wonder why I would reserve myself around the table if he would end with sitting on the counter.
Tucked in a hidden laneway, Sasaki is a charming restaurant offering dishes which invoke the memories of childhood. All the dishes were very clean and familiar to the palate. Outstanding dishes: 1. Mushroom, fontina cheese and onsen egg. The richness of the egg yolk combined with the creamy fontina foam creates a delectable sauce which is soaked up by the crumbed mushrooms. 2. Mackerel sushi, the texture of the mackerel was divine, it seamlessly blended with the sushi rice. 3. Beef cheeks braised in red wine and miso. This dish was flavoursome and paired perfectly with mashed potatoes. The creamy mash was so finely milled and could have easily stood alone as a dish in its own right. Underwhelming dishes: 1. The duck, eggplant, trevally. 2. All the desserts. We felt that they were nothing better than store-bought biscuits. Misc. 1. The serving sizes are rather small, It was a light dinner which left us just satisfied. 2. There were a lot of hit and misses. Sasaki offers an easy relaxed dining experience. Although we did enjoy our meal, we feel that there is no imminent rush to return.
