Chill dive bar with friendly staff. A nice small bar with a grungy atmosphere, hidden below the rush of the city. Their menu was interesting, with a good range of unique cocktails and also a wider range of good craft beers at reasonable prices. I really loved the Mary's delivery service burgers and fries from Mary's at Newtown delivered straight to the bar within 30 minutes. Great amount of seating, perfect for an ea... View all feedback.
What Barry Berge doesn't like about Ramblin Rascal Tavern:
I have an ambitious goal to visit most of the top 100 Bars in Sydney selected by Timeout each year. Week after week, month after month, I gradually ticked a lot of them off my list over the last several years. Pretentious ones, down to earth ones, cheap cheerful ones, and overrated overpriced ones, you name it I have seen it all. But most recently i finally came across a bar that I could call it my favorite. There is... View all feedback.
Was there for weekend drinks with few buddies there. The interior and ambience were good. The wait staff was very friendly. They do not serve food at the point, but they can order burgers from the joint next door they bring from the other side of the street. The burgers were absolutely delicious. We had the chicken and the beef burners.
Hidden, mysterious, subway bar. Pay attention to the 3 skulls on Elizabeth Street, there is no other way you will find this place. Love the topic of this place. The bartenders are so much fun here! Good service. And the drinks are inexpensive. In any case one of the best bars in Sydney! Grief Grief The music can be something too loud. But who cares when they are drunk?
Chill dive with friendly staff. A beautiful little bar with grungy atmosphere, hidden under the intoxication of the city. Your menu was interesting, with a good selection of unique cocktails and a wider range of good crafts at reasonable prices. I really enjoyed the Mary's delivery service - Burgers and French fries by Mary's in Newtown, which were delivered directly to the bar within 30 minutes. Many seats, ideal for easy night with friends.
This is a little different, at the other places that I wrote is a bar. But his hidden nature was so fascinating that I could not help. After a casual night we ended up here, though it's hard to find it. The entrance to the bar is located in Elizabeth Street near the corner of the park St. On the street, it is only a large industrial door, and once only opened a weakly illuminated staircase on what looks like back of home rooms looks like. Behind this door is a hidden jewel of Sydney. The interior fits only for a subterranean door, which consists of harsh brick walls and cozy leather cabins, with incredibly weak mood lighting. There is no setting a cinnamon stick on fire kind of gimmick, there is no trying hard decorations, there is no deafening music or noises, you don't pay high $10+ for a glass of wine, the beers don't come in a tiny bottle for $10. All you get is six funny dudes rambling away at the bar and spread their cheerfulness to everyone else! When you see the three skulls sign, you have found the entrance of Rambling rascal tavern. Even the bouncer was smiling and friendly, that rarely happens! After a few steps into the basement you will see some writing on the wall - don't be a d!ck! Yes that's the only rule to enter this magic space. The bar is dimly lit, you can either opt to sit at the bar and talk nothing in particular but have a good laugh with the extremely friendly bartenders or the booths looked very comfy and great for groups. There were three beers on top, we went for the middle one which was one $7. Finally there is a cool secret underground small bar that one can stay all night without breaking the bank! You can even get $6 beer in a tin if you are on a budget. I went straight to cocktail. They are around $17. We were given free bar snacks instantly. I tried a glass of semllion too, it was crispy and fruity at only $10! Oh guess what they also serve Mary's burgers and have it delivered from across the road for $12. Every time when the burgers arrived they rang the bell! Haha... What impressed me the most about this bar was the six dudes serving at the bar. It didn't feel like drinking at a commercial establishment, but more like at a large share house they lived in. The ambience was so laid back, chilled, they talked and waved at everyone coming in and out, they talked to us about their holidays in Bali, the T-shirt they were wearing, I never saw anyone embrace a bartender job so warmly and enthusiastically like those six dudes. They don't just pull a drink for you, collect your money, and walk away, they ramble with you all night! thernbdiary.com
