Pier Nine - Sydney
Pier Nine
Description
Pier Nine, located in Darling Harbour, pleasantly surprised us with their yum cha offerings despite mixed reviews. The prawn and scallop dumplings were fresh and flavorful, while the Kai Lan was sweet and juicy. However, some found the prices to be on the higher side for yum cha. The restaurant offers a modern dining experience without traditional trolleys. Overall, Pier Nine received praise for its fresh seafood dishes and pleasant ambiance, making it a recommended choice for yum cha in the area.

DO NOT BOTHER. We went with a voucher but that is no excuse for rudeness and lack of decent treatment. Firstly they main waiter lied that we could only order from the yum cha menu (The voucher states otherwise) and this was loudly yelled (you know the way some Chinese restaurant waiters do) at us. When we were ready it too ages to get any attention and the same waited yelled again Yeah, I am coming which was unwarranted as we were being polite (never mess with people who bring you food). He also sat on the table next to us with his friends and stoped serving leaving two people for one section which was no where near enough. The food was good but not what we wanted to order and...read more
Went there on a Cudo voucher, $75 for two people for what was described as an 8 course banquet. The best thing for me was the glass of wine. Service not very friendly and not at all attentive. We were served the food an not asked if we would like anything else or any other drinks during the meal or how we found the meal. The food seemed fresh enough but seemed very mediocre for Chinese Seafood. No way I would describe it as $149 value in hindsight would have felt better spending $75 elsewhere. They also only served seven of the courses (left out the mango pancakes) and since they didn't bother to bring it out we decided to leave. Overall it's not that it was very bad, just that it...read more
We made a booking a week before require to seat upstairs( not the pier floor )but when we arrived they told me we can only seat downstairs even we told them our booking name. It was pretty cold and there's no one came to offer us any drink, the area was dark and the waiters are totally lack of service. 30 minutes later after my parents arrived , surprisingly they told us we can move up to upstairs as that's what we booked for before!! they offered us hot hand towel, hot tea, kept asking what we need. It's very annoying if you don't know anyone who works inside the restaurant, you will be ignored and now I knew they are full of lie about the seating!! They just wanna leave it for their...read more
To start, I sampled the pork, prawn, and scallop dumplings, and all three were delightful, bursting with strong flavors from the fresh ingredients. I didn’t have time to try other menu items like Peking Duck and Black Bean Steak, but they also offer live seafood, which gives me plenty of reasons to return!
It was our third time to visit this place. the last visit was such a disappointing experience. we have used groupon voucher for all visits, but the food quality went from 8 to 2. I assume they have changed their chef or supplier. the fried combination dumplings had quite nothing inside and xiaolongbao was not fresh and definitiw the worst I ever had. pekin style pork was something I couldn't even swallow, so I had to spit it out. it tasted and tasted very old funny. we're not going back to the place anymore.
