It’s not often that it rains for days in Sydney. It’s regular in my hometown of Vancouver, but I think the two week stretch (at least) of drizzle and rain and a few really heavy downpours in October made the city a bit stir-crazy. At least I was going stir-crazy. So, arriving at my hairdressers too early, in the rain, and finding mysteriously that at 3pm, all the cafes in the neighbourhood seemed to be shut down. Well, that is a bummer. Luckily, Cafe Banter was there to save the day with a paleo lemon slice (light and creamy, very nice) and a very acceptable latte with above average latte art.
I had the burger and chips with extra hauling and smoked salmon. The shoestring chips were perfect with the meal. The salmon was good. The haluomi was beautiful. The one thing that I didn’t like was the hashbrown in the burger. It was too oily. And the aioli sauce was a bit too much. Other than that it is delicious.
Had that day's blackboard special a home made pasta with seafood and chilli spice. Really liked it. The coffee is nice enough to be my go to place for a quick one to go. Service is friendly. Doesn't pretend to be a culinary spectacular, just reasonable price tasty freshly prepared food, I.E. no bain marie.
A cute little cafe in the heart of Redfern. Came across it for breakfast one morning and wasn't disappointed. Decor is industrial and simple, with eight tables inside and a handful of seating outside. Coffee is nice, and they have a good sized menu. I had a ham and cheese croissant which was nice that and the coffee came to $11.50.
Excellent food! Ordered the banter (beef) pie and zucchini ricotta fritters; the pie came with a bucket of shoe string fries that we seasoned with the cracked pink salt provided at our table. The fritters were served with two generous slices of bacon, well made poached eggs and fresh avocado slices. Amazing value for our money will definitely visit again! Extremely pleased with presentation. Also, friendly staff to complement the experience. Please check it out!
