Excellent food chicken karaage was crispy and tasty; ramen was warming and full of flavour and rice was cooked to perfection. Loved that there were plenty of vegetarian options for those of us who are vegetarian. Customer service was exceptional too. Only downfall is that a small serving of chilli oil cost $1.50. What Esila Jacobs doesn't like about O'Uchi:
Went for lunch and had the grilled mackerel bento with a side order of salmon sashimi ($24 in total). Fresh ingredients, mild flavours, a little on the light side was still a bit hungry afterwards. View all feedback.
This place is so good that I find myself visiting whenever I am in that part of town. I have done lunch and dinner here a few times already with friends and work colleagues. O'uchi is a small cafe/restaurant nestled on Clarence Street and a hop and skip away from the Wynard Station. They serve Japanese organic food that is delicious and fresh and reasonably priced too. You cannot make bookings here so plan well to avoid the lunch time crowds. O'uchi is my favourite Japanese in Sydney so far.
The service at O’Uchi is gentle and slow. The new restaurant feels worlds away from the former, gossamer fabric draped Brisbane Street restaurant – Uchi Lounge – where the jazz soundtrack was broken up with shuddering bangs as the building’s dumbwaiter moved between floors. Here the exterior is sandstone and regal, while the interior is green and homely, with wooden furniture and an earthy brown striped banquette. The look ties into that additional O you'll find in the updated name, indicating the restaurant's organic, chemical and additive free ethos So, to get things started on the right foot, I kick off with the Hi Iced Tea $10), a simple cocktail made using toasty, organic green tea – hojicha and Iichiko Shochu. The latter is a popular Japanese distilled spirit similar to vodka) that, in this case, is distilled from barley by Japan’s best selling shochu producer. The same spirit is also used in...
Gorgeous Japanese restaurant with great decor. Many veg and vegan options. Friendly service and complimentary fresh fruit infused water. Open for lunch and dinner.I had the 'Eggplant Parmesan curry ' without the Parmesan to made it vegan. was more on the eggplant miso side than curry. but still yummy overall. Can 't wait to try the other vegan and gf options on the menu.
It’s hard to find a good place to eat Japanese Organic food! It’s said their food is 90% organic. It’s a small restaurant and all tables quickly get full at lunch time so it’s better to get there at 12pm. I had lunch box which came with a lot of food! I really enjoyed teriyaki fish. It’s not a usual teriyaki fish it’s not too sweet salty and it had a nice flavour and the fish was moist! I heard their curries are also good so I will try it next time.
Visited in September. Had the tasting menu with dessert $55). Friendly service. My favorites are the beef ribs, salmon sashimi, miso eggplant, green tea creme brulee and the Yuzu sorbet. Ordered the smoked duck as well. Great tasting flavours. Would visit again!<br/
