Contribute FeedbackLong Chim in Angel Place is an upmarket Thai restaurant with backing from renowned chef David Thompson. The menu offers some great options, although many dishes are very spicy. Highlights include the Fried Rice with Spanner Crab and the Durian Ice Cream for Durian lovers. The service has been average on our visits, which is a disappointment given the prices. Overall, the restaurant offers a pleasant atmosphere with tasty food, but some dishes may be too spicy for some diners.
Went here with some friends on a last minute decision based on a single recommendation. We made reservations, arrived about 10 min late, but were still seated without issue. After checking the menu, we all decided to go with the $79 set menu. This is what I thought: Spicy Cashews Very good. Nice little snack. Red Snapper Fish Cake Not good. I 've had fish cakes before, but didn 't particularly like the texture or taste of this one. Sticky Chicken Wings Good. Great taste. Red Chicken Curry OK. Good taste, but so little chicken. It basically works out to two pieces of chicken per person, which seems really cheap. Nong 's Eggplant Good. Som Tum Not good. Papaya was cut much more thick then I prefer, and found the dish much too spicy that I 'm accustomed to Chinese Broccoli OK. A lot of stems, and very little leaf portion Thai Tea Ice Cream Bad. I was expecting something more milky (especially for an ice cream), but came off sugarless and not enjoyable to eat. Overall, I sort of thought the food was a mix of good and not so good and for the most part, very small portion sizes. Service was OK. When I was on the website, they put highlighted the Time Out quote of This is the best Thai Food in Sydney right now. Hands down ... I have a hard time believing that.
Always sensational top Thai with uniformly high quality meat, fish, veggie ingredients combined with great and balanced spices. Can go for hot chilli dishes but great range of choices for those that like flavours but not too chilli hot.
Woeful. Had the $99 head buffet which would have cots less $5 head to put together. Two stir fried fish and two veg dishes with a horrible tough steak excuse for a curry. Come on Dave please tell the world this is not really Thai food and stop ripping people off.
We dined at this excellent Thai restaurant. Portion sizes were fine. We shared dishes like betel leaves, grilled chicken, crab fried rice, 3 flavour fish, and bananas roti. All meals were delicious. Restaurant setting was fantastic. We don’t live in Sydney otherwise would happily return.
Food absolutely delicious and wait staff great!!However, portion sizes not acceptable. Certainly not enough protein in the main dishes of the 99 banquets. We thought we’d have too much food. We were a group of 3 females and all didn’t get to sample the barramundi, and had a mouthful of brisket and John Dory fillet each. The meal was filled out with vegetables. We are visiting from Perth. So we thought we would try it here in Sydney as well. In Perth a much better experience and value for
