I went here on the weekend with 5 of my friends, three whom had come interstate for an event in Sydney. The other two friends and I have been to this restaurant numerous times of which we received fairly pleasant service. However, we ordered $45 worth of Beef Brisket and two dishes of the Spicy Pork. Upon ordering, a waiter had spilt water on my friend 's iPhone, luckily without damage, but without an apology. When the dishes were served, we received ONE serving on Beef Brisket and ONE serving of Spicy Pork. Our Issue was, the food was not enough for all six of us, and when we went to complain, they argued that the Spicy Pork had the two servings in the one dish, and the Brisket had three in the one. When we got up to complain, hopeful they would serve us the rest of our food, we were horrified when the older lady (presumably the manager or owner) said very rudely everything was weighed and it was all correct. Now, our issue was that we had been there enough times to pick up inconsistencies in their business. In the past, I have previously ordered and ordered TWO Beef Briskets and received MORE THAN OUR THREE SERVINGS. They refused to acknowledge this at all. Our bill was just under $100 and they refused to compensate us, despite any consumer rights we held. On confrontation about the poor service about the smartphone, the woman replied VERY RUDELY with we busy we busy , failing to even apologise. We left angry and disappointed that we had such a bad experience, especially when our friends had travelled so far to see us for the weekend. I have been to this restaurant at least 5 times, and it has been fine thus far, but this event has been, by far, the worst hospitality experience ever.
This place is absolutely rubbish. The food took ages to come out, they forgot our drinks and the servers were incomprehensible. Avoid this place if your possibly can
Ok, I may not be the best at reviewing Korean BBQ (Kbbq places because I 've been to 3 in my life terrible for an Asian, I know haha. One of those times was when I was in Korea and that was absolutely delicious (or maybe my mind just tricked me into thinking so because it was 'authentic ' , so maybe it 's hard to compare. The quality of the Kbbq was mediocre it wasn 't good or bad, it was just ok. I wouldn 't come back here for the food but I wouldn 't object to it either, that sort of thing. However, there are definite highlights which is why this place is usually relatively busy, especially at night. These include the cheap, delicious, classically Korean alcohol: Soju. $10 for a bottle which contains 4 standard drinks, and they 're delicious. If these weren 't alcoholic, I 'd drink them during the day as well. Would recommend watermelon flavour. It just tastes like a sweet drink, but with alcohol which you can barely taste but can definitely be affected by haha. Another plus is that it 's a great venue for a group catch up or dinner. It 's super casual and usually quite loud on a Friday night on account of the tipsy patrons. There 's heaps of room (2 floors , a bathroom just downstairs and absolutely no need to be quiet. It 's not a fancy or pretty place by any means, but it gets the job done. In short, I 'd come here for the casual, fun ambience, the space and the Soju. I wouldn 't come for the food again.
I had Korean BBQ, seafood pancake, soju, and pan fried dumplings at this place. I've been to quite a few korean bbq places (in Korea, NYC, San Fran, Nagoya, etc) and this was unfortunately the worst yet. The food is actually pretty decent but the service is extremely poor. -There's a bell on each table for you to call the folks and pressing 2-3 times doesn't always guarantee someone coming over. Pressing 5 times will. -I ordered for more food at least two times and they had forgotten to bring it over each time. -They also never came back to refill our water. The next few things may just be Ozzie, I can't be too sure since but it certainly was not my expectation of how Korean food should be served -When ordering Korean BBQ, they don't bring the lettuce used to wrap the meat (it's standard to have this). Make sure to ask so you experience a well rounded BBQ experience. -The seafood pancake was also not served with its usual sauce nor was it cut up correctly (should be in pizza sliced form yet it was cut across once in one direction making long, impossible to grab pieces). The Korean BBQ is also cooked on a portable stove, not on the typical kind of grill you see built into tables. This wouldn't be a problem except for the fact that the grill tray almost slid off the stove a few times! Be careful how you handle it. The meat got stuck on the grill so as my friend tried scraping it off in one direction, the grill eventually slid in that same direction. Technically it may have been how much strength my friend put into scraping the meat off, but there is also nothing holding the grill in place on top of the portable stove. All in all, this place still has decent portion sized foods and is pretty good for casual social group gatherings. Its more of a restaurant where the staff will leave your table alone so if you like that sort of service, then go for it. I would recommend that if you know of a better Korean BBQ place, you should go there instead.
Ah Kobow. I have come here many many times throughout the years, and they remain the same. No improvement but no less than the first time I stepped into the restaurant. This could work, if you already have a high set standard, but in all honesty Kobow does need to lift their game. It's one of those places, just so convenient if you want to grab a late dinner (and I mean really late or want the loud hustle and bustle for drinking. I've seen soccer matches, attended birthdays, and even had heart to heart conversations here. A very social buzzing joint, but you can make it work for you by sitting at one of the corner tables if you want a d&m. The food has continuously been average. Some dishes, below. Nothing ever stands out or remains in your memory. They did have some tasty fruit flavoured soju last time I went, one pomegranate and the other mandarin. So could it be that I only ever go to drink and for the atmosphere, and food is just there to accompany the alcohol? Highly likely. Best to try somewhere else if you are after good Korean food (Danjee perhaps? . Thank goodness my days of frequenting such joints have drastically lessened for foods sake.
