Recent reviews for this restaurant were a mixed bag. One customer complained of overly oily and poorly cooked dishes, as well as rude staff. Another was disappointed to find the restaurant closed early without warning. However, there were positive reviews as well, with praise for the tasting plate, seafood options, and efficient service. The restaurant's location overlooking Hyde Park was noted as a highlight, offering a 5-star experience at an affordable price. Was Peter M at Cod & Co. a mag?
The advent of upper level food halls has been a real boom in some of the bigger cities. In Sydney one such place is in Westfield in Pitt Street. A vast array of very good sites are on offer. Cod Co (originally under a different name) has been there since opening and has been known for its small but quality seafood based menu. The menu is of a high standard compared to normal food hall fare. Although busy it is a welc... View all feedback.
What Patience Sporer dislikes about Cod & Co.:
Ok so found this place looked nice. I asked about a display dish which looked like curry. The lady explained it was indeed a cuoorie and then proceeded to explain that it would have spices and some coconut? Undaunted we proceeded.... Ok, this place found beautiful. I asked for a display plate that looked like curry. The lady explained it in fact a kuorie and then explained that there would have spices and some coconut? Untouched We continued then I got the main piece a piece of king salmon, not sure about the king bit, because it was also an oily mess because I tried in vain to dry it with paper towels, but it was still Soaked. The salad was a combination of leaves covered in sliding oil to make the entire plate an oily bath. To test the EFTPOS, it is not properly furnished to accept entertainment credit cards, which means that I had to pay cash. All in all a total failure.

Salt n pepper calamari came in ultra quick time a rubbery mass of oily calamari with not a hint of salt or pepper. Then I got the main a piece of "king salmon" not sure about the king bit perhaps because it too was an oily mess I tried in vain to dry it out with paper towels but it was still soaked. The salad was a combination of leaves again covered in plain oil making the whole plate an oily bath. To top it off the eftpos is not correctly setup to accept entertainment credit cards meaning I had to pay cash. All in all a total fail.
If you are in the Sydney CBD, and you are meeting a friend between business meetings around Market or George Street, but you (1) are relatively short on time, and (2) short on tolerance for rubbish food, then I do recommend this place. Other than the bread (which is not great) the rest is pretty good. I opted for the snapper, washed down with a glass or two of Chardonnay. This is not fine dining, but it the staff are great, it's quick, and the seafood is good (it is Sydney seafood after all). The place is always busy, and I must admit that I like the sitting at the 'bar'. It's all relative, and this place more than meets the brief.
The mega stores have the luxury items and the food hall have the various cuisines from around the world 'my daughter 's quote!!
Great. Some lovely stores and really nice place to shop. A few good spots to sit and rest as well. Love the Christmas decor. Not too overdone.
