Another was disappointed to find the restaurant closed early without warning. However, there were positive reviews as well, with praise for the tasting plate, seafood options, and efficient service. The restaurant's location overlooking Hyde Park was noted as a highlight, offering a 5-star experience at an affordable price. Was Peter M at Cod & Co. a mag?
The advent of upper level food halls has been a real boom in some of the bigger cities. In Sydney one such place is in Westfield in Pitt Street. A vast array of very good sites are on offer. Cod Co (originally under a different name) has been there since opening and has been known for its small but quality seafood based menu. The menu is of a high standard compared to normal food hall fare. Although busy it is a welc... View all feedback.
What Patience Sporer dislikes about Cod & Co.:
Ok so found this place looked nice. I asked about a display dish which looked like curry. The lady explained it was indeed a cuoorie and then proceeded to explain that it would have spices and some coconut? Undaunted we proceeded.... Salt n pepper calamari came in ultra quick time a rubbery mass of oily calamari with not a hint of salt or pepper. Then I got the main a piece of "king salmon" not sure about the king bi... I cant comment on the food from this place as I didn't get to eat any. We arrived there at around 3.45pm picked up menus from the counter and sat down to choose food. There were no signs saying they were about to close, neither were there any hours on the menu nor did the waitress we got the menus from say anything. However when I went to order at 4.01 pm I was curtly informed that they were shut. No offer of any food at all. When I politely remonstrated the staff present became downright rude. Don't go here and expect any sort of civil service.
I had a pot of mussels after the lunch time rush so they were not overly busy. Nearly every one had its beard still attached. I informed the staff and they apologised but made no effort to rectify the problem, offer me another plate or my money back. That's unacceptable food to serve and will not return.
If you are in the Sydney CBD, and you are meeting a friend between business meetings around Market or George Street, but you (1) are relatively short on time, and (2) short on tolerance for rubbish food, then I do recommend this place. Other than the bread (which is not great) the rest is pretty good. I opted for the snapper, washed down with a glass or two of Chardonnay. This is not fine dining, but it the staff are great, it's quick, and the seafood is good (it is Sydney seafood after all). The place is always busy, and I must admit that I like the sitting at the 'bar'. It's all relative, and this place more than meets the brief.
The mega stores have the luxury items and the food hall have the various cuisines from around the world 'my daughter 's quote!!
