Great glowy (dark) bar to recuperate from sunburn. $6 tequila shots/Tecate cans on Tuesday’s. Had extensive vegetarian menu—would like to try sliders if I am ever back in Manly View all feedback.
What Vita Bosco doesn't like about Burgers by The Hold:
Felt both insulted and ripped off. I’d heard good things about The Hold, so when the opportunity presented for a casual night out in Manly, I grabbed it. The service was predictably “Manly” unprofessional, casual staff, more interested in talking to each other than serving me. The place is dark and gloomy; but that’s expected when the theme is a ships hold. I ordered the vegan version of the Captain Jack Burger, whic... View all feedback.
I would give 0 stars if I could. My friend waited 1 hour for a normal/standard burger and the service of the waitress even worse. When we talked to her and the one in charge they didn’t even apologise. They were pretty much ignoring us the whole time. Don’t recommend this place.
It's like Pirates Bar! looking cool and staff are so friendly and attentive. Their happy hour deal is amazing, especially 2 for $20 cocktails! It's not only cozy but also good service and nice drinks/nibbles. You can order with QR code at the table as well.
What a great pub and atmosphere with a very knowledgeable host. This is a place to stay, not for a five, but the whole evening and I bet there isn’t a drink they don’t know how to mix and serve.
The decor of The Hold is awesome. We sat in the booth by the entrance and it was cosy and you really felt the Pirate ship type vibe of the place. The bar looks really impressive too. The food was mediocre, burgers weren 't hot enough and really weren 't that exciting considering the burger options out there these days. The fries were very underwhelming for $12, a handful (at best) of regular, thin fries. The Chipotle aioli was nice. No cutlery or napkins were brought to our table, so I just helped myself to the napkins on the far side of the bar. The waitress (in training) also took my partners empty beer far too quickly, even though he still had a sip left. All in all, it was okay, decent for a drink with mates, but not so good I 'd rush back. What would make it 1000% better would be to up the vibe of the place the music was so boring and flat play something upbeat and give the whole place more of a swashbuckling energy.
I 've been here twice now on a saturday and seen the same poor service and I don 't really care attitude from the bar staff each time. They have QR codes on tables we ordered off them, then waited 25 minutes for our drinks...nothing arrived... then we checked at the bar on them. We were told it would be another 30 minutes. I didn 't think QR codes were too hard. ....they continued to serve every single person who walked up to the bar, well after we ordered via QR....our order? 2 bottled beers and 1 old fashioned. Yeah, nah. Very disorganised, also the toilets terrible. I got a refund and we left. I don 't normally leave bad reviews but twice in a row? I 'd rather share so you don 't experience this...
