What Tracey DuBuque doesn't like about Banh Mese:
I went here for a 2pm snack on a wednesday. The shop was pretty empty and I wanted some prawn rice paper rolls. Sadly i really can't recommend this one.. had to wait 20 minutes for prawn rice paper rolls. View all feedback.
I thought I finally found a place in the cbd that made authentic Vietnamese rolling, but I was wrong. Despite the owners from the southwest of sydney (aka pork roll capital), what banh mese offers is a very far cry from their roots that I know and understand that the operating costs are much higher in the city, but that does not excuse the dings that play here. in simple terms, they get half of the ingredients and half taste for double price and from all accounts that do not add a piece of mathematic that. their pig cracking offer was scanned on each ingredient and realistically spoken not worthy of the geldes paid for it.
Again I found myself in the necessity of a fast lunch. this time I didn't even make it on the world square, and instead on banh mese, after having enjoyed banh mi rolling in the last other restaurants, I came to a peak time when the line was almost out of the door. the baguette roller was fresh, like the salat filling (mother, carrot, coriander and schalottes.) of the hoisin...read more
I am Vietnamese and I am extra picky about Viet food. I'm glad to say that this place is legitimate. yum! positiw: very friendly, fast and great customer service. we had the duck banh mi sandwich and it was soouou good! simply perfect aromen. due was juicy and perfectly boiled and not fat : yum! they also put a large part of the duck in the sandwich that I appreciated. all the ingredients were fresh, carrots had a nice crunchy, and all the aromen well balanced. banh mi the prices were average/unconsuming. the restaurant interieur was new, clean, casual vibe, very cute, decorated with many colorful beautiful laternen and decor was modern cons: the pork crisp banh mi was to...read more
Awful. I ordered the chicken rice paper rolls full of gluggy chicken skin, dirt and to top it all off? A WORM clearly you don't wash your lettuce. Very disappointing, I won't be back!
Absolutely delicious pork crackling rolls, with extra chillies which you can ask the friendly and helpful staff to add for you, if you are brave enough. The duck rice paper rolls are also very tasty, and are served with hoisin sauce, so it has a bit of that peking duck yumminess!! Best to come a bit earlier for lunch, otherwise they tend to sell out.
