STEAM’s Platform One Café is now open and ready to welcome you. Enjoy a tasty selection of hot and cold drinks, alongside delicious homemade cakes and sandwiches. No need for museum admission to visit the café, though we do highly recommend exploring the museum while you're here! Make the most of our special offer by pre-booking your lunch: choose a Buttie and a hot drink for just £7.00, or a kids meal with a hot chocolate for £5.00 when booked with your admission ticket. Simply add this option at checkout after selecting your ticket. Platform One Café opening times are Monday to Saturday from 10:00am to 4:00pm, and Sunday from 11:00am to 3:00pm. Not good. Poor selection of food. Afternoon tea scone was warmed in microwave !! Grumpy staff started mopping the restaurant floor with strong disinfectant at about 3pm, clearly wishing the pesky customers would leave.
Went for tea after 3 hours in the museum, excellent pot of tea for two but terrible choice of cakes so we didn't bother. It was a quiet day so maybe much better choice at other times. Clean and light, we had the comfy chairs as it was a quiet day.
I went to the cafe today and loved it, the food was fantastic and the waiters' service was excellent
I popped in with my family at 12.50pm for some lunch half way through our visit to steam. I was told (at 12.50) that they would be shutting at 1pm so couldn't serve us. Surely that means it is actually already shut??
