You won't find a better millefeuille anywhere else. The atmosphere here is charming and they offer a variety of other dishes that are definitely worth a try. I'll be back to try their home smoked salmon next time. View all feedback.
What CMT-JWT doesn't like about Chez Matis Traiteur:
The pastries and snacks were good, but we were not impressed with the management's attitude. Although we had a positive catering experience in the past, we will not be coming back due to the unwelcoming reception. View all feedback.
Son and I were in the area, did not have time for lunch, we stopped for a quick snack. Just WOW! What a place! Loved the decor, loved the service, loved the jive and loved the Mille-feuille. Huge and delicious. The pastry was simply perfect. And the creme patissiere really was to die for. Going to be going back often.... not just when in the area, but we'll be going out of our way to eat here. Amazing! Merci M. Wiederkehr!
This is what is called a Traiteur in France meaning restaurant type dishes that you take and reheat at home so if you have rented a chalet in Sutton this is a place not to miss. The owner also makes delicious desserts and jams and you can have a coffee on the spot too.
Chez Matis were fantastic caterers for our 28 person family reunion. They were able to whip up multiple breakfasts, lunches and dinners throughout our week stay that was prompt for pickup. It is often difficult to cook large quantities of food with fantastic quality, but Laurent and Sharon exceeded our expectations at a very reasonably price. They were very accommodating to our requests. I highly recommend their boeuf bourguignon, duck, crepes, croissants, apricot marmalade, and tarts!
A great place to have a satisfying meal with great food and good service. Easy location to find and good parking
I accidentally tripped over Chez Matis this past weekend when my ski club was staying at a nearby inn. I quit skiing early due to the weather and ended up in town with a couple of the girls and as we drove by we noticed the Tarte au Canard sign in the window. Having never had duck pie we had to stop in a check it out. It is not a restaurant per se but it does have one table you can dine it. It is mostly for take-out. Their list is impressive. We purchased two of the pies, some millefeulles pastries (the classic French pastry that consists of layers of razor-thin puff pastry and cream filling) and condiments. The pastry was awesome that night, but I had to wait until I got back to TO to eat the pie. It was more like a tourtiere in that the meat was ground, but it was exceedingly tasty and the pastry crust was a thing of beauty, light and crisp. The owner was helpful and patient answering our questions. He does a good business. There was a constant stream of customers while we were there mid-afternoon.Visiting the shop will now be an annual pilgrimage.
