Prinknash Abbey Monastery Shop Cafe

What cakes do you have? Xxx Ok I ll have that one. And repeat.... I was expecting nice views from. There are none. Toilets were good. Cake was nice. Just the whole experience was tedious. They have it. No they don't. They have that one....No they don't. Do you have to wait? No we ll bring it out. Oh there you are we don't do table service.... No one seems to know what any one else is doing. But all in it isn't unpleasant. It took ages to get served. I dread to think what it would be like when it was busy.

Spacious and modern, the cafe and restaurant serves excellent cakes and afternoon tea, and staff are friendly and helpful. We wandered down to the walled abbey kitchen gardens after our refreshments and were impressed by the fruit trees, heavy with fruit: apples, pears, figs, mulberries,...plums. There is also a very busy apiary. And fish pond. Unfortunately rather overgrown in parts, the gardens provide a good insight into how the monastery supplied much of its own fresh kitchen produce for many years

Quite a varied menu selection, good breakfast's, lunches etc and at a reasonable price. Not the most modern of cafe's but it was clean, a good size (with some outdoor seating too) and in good condition. Polite staff, toilets on hand, and if you're into...that sort of thing, religious icons, rosaries, books, postcards, cards etc are for sale in the cafe as it doubles as a shop.

Nice location. Good home-made style food, friendly staff. Plenty of space. Good to have the books and shop nearby.

Beautiful place with good food as well as a great gift shop! Superb!
