This restaurant makes you feel like you have cooked your own meal. Tasty and intimate. We were welcomed and seated. The service was exceptional. Vicram the Matre'D was friendly and very informative about the dishes we chose. The Manager and the Owner are both equally attentive and pleasant. I highly recommend this restaurant. What Vallie McCullough doesn't like about Fine Indian Cuisine:
it used to be my favorite place for a curry, unfortunately the rogan josh was much too spicy, it had a pretty kick, I swear it was a vinda loo. my wife ordered a cocktail that never came, but we were charged for...it. the menu was dirty, our teller was dirty, and our service was very slow. Excellent eating, our service was quite fast, but some tables seemed to wait longer. the employees worked very hard and were certainly attentive, including the regular refill of water.
Stopped in for dinner. Not packed, seated immediately and given a free app of papadum with 6 sauces (excellent! . Ordered quickly (Chicken Tikka Masala, Tandoori Chicken, rice and naan. Arrived within 15 minutes hot and fresh...and the taste!! Fantastic. Spicing was perfect on both. Enough...left over for lunch the next day. Service was great and attentive. $67 before tax and tip...very reasonable.
Raja remains reliable. we showed up late in the season, early on a weekday. in recent years has been an almost cached, dinner in the time between the games, but not this time. efficient service and three great dishes mulligatawny soup, chicken tikka...corma, and a garlic chili chicken. and naan. chili chicken dish was a little oily, but the taste for it. and an excellent house white. dinner for two with wine only over $100 with gratuities.
On Saturday night people took part in an 8-time shakespeare festival performance, the three of us came to our 18-time reservation on time. we went on angry argument between the bartender and a waitress, the restaurant was already full and. that were the only employees we saw for many minutes. we said we were waiting here and after 7 minutes. other workers in jeans, shorts or black wait uniform later appeared. our water glasses were filled and we gave the barkeep/wafer a drink order. no drinks appeared. the waitress took our order back and 2 of three drinks appeared. After 20 minutes, we had to ask again after the 3rd and after 45 minutes were able to place our food order. (all other upscale restaurants were full for pre-theater sessions.) After we had left the table to approach a waiter, one of us could get our food served at 7:10 o'clock. the food was tasty, but the portion sizes of the community dishes were erratic ... 5 pieces of whee in butter huhn, a large bowl with small lamb spots in the rice in the lamb corma. we ate as fast as necessary, but had to have dinner on the table to get to the theater in time. delicious mango leti! bill for 3 people, 2 beers, 1 leti, no (time for) dessert canadian $125. a stressful experience. bad management, untrained and sloppy staff, ok eating, booked and underoccupied ... keep well before the time for the service and not at the raja.
