Il Cardo is a place with menu focussed on pizza and focacce. Located along the river in hamlet Cardoso (Stazzema) and some 25 minutes from the Versilia coast, it is a great opportunity to enjoy colder temperatures especially during the warm Summer evenings. Great choice of pizza (the Cardo trademark is with sausage and mushrooms toppings), served with different ingredients and basis, with friendly and accurate service. Tables are on a wide terrace with some additional rooms over a nice small bridge. Very good value for money.
Excellent location, pretty cool at night, nice atmosphere, great pizza and desserts. Service a bit slow but acceptable considering the location and the great quality of the pizza and its ingredients. To recommend.
We have been to Il Cardo twice in the past month with friends. The restaurant is up in the mountains above Seravezza, about 15 minutes drive from the beach. It has a beautiful terrace overlooking the river. The food quality is excellent, pizza dough is very light and crunchy, prices are very reasonable and the staff is very friendly and attentive. Restaurant is very clean and grounds are well maintained. Definitely worth a visit!
The restaurant is quite remote, but the drive (which is also quite picturesque is well worth it. The menu is very simple there are traditional antipasti and there are pizze. But the pizza is absolutely great. I try to go to Il Cardo every time I visit Tuscany (every year and I have never been disappointed. Please note that during the high season you have to book well in advance. This place is extremely popular and most visitors are locals. The only word of caution is that you should resist and try not to get full on the delicious thin bread that they bring you for free with your drinks. ;
A very large choice of pizza with excellent taste. A place well known by the locals and the reasons for that can be clearly tasted on your plate. A friendly and impeccable service. Great value for money.
