Forest Thai - Staten Island

I was a bit iffy about coming here due to the reviews but I was so glad to try this spot out. The prices for each dish is very reasonable and not as expensive as the other Thai locations in SI. At around 6pm on a Tuesday there was quite a few people wiating for their orders to takeout and dine in. Service is a bit slower due to the very limited amount of staff members that work here. The food and drinks are amazing and I can't believe I didn't come here sooner. I'll definitely come back whenever I'm craving for some Thai cuisine.

My first review was around 8 years ago. I'm so happy that this little family restaurant survived during the Covid-19 pandemic. I have been a patron during that period. First, Forest Thai cuisine is the best on this island. I know that 8 years ago when I went there for the first time I compared their Pad Thai with a historic restaurant in downtown Manhattan near the old fish market called Benny's which sadly has permanently closed. I miss that place. With that said let get back on track, Forest Thai reminds me of that place. Then the pad that was really good. Today, I don't know, could it be my palate it lacks the freshness of the authentic sauce. Something is amiss but it's better then the others on this island. I've tried many dishes: the curries, their specials, great appetizers, the vegetarian dishes, they are all excellent. I'm not rich so just to mention, the prices are a little steep and the portions are barely enough for one person so don't plan of sharing there is not enough to share. I limit myself to visit the place on occasion just because of the prices and portions. I do not blame any small mom-and-pop shops to charge these astronomical prices; the pandemic has caused a domino effect on price gauging.

First time trying, but definitely not last time getting food from here. I've been looking for a good Pad Thai meal in the neighborhood, but somehow overlooked this restaurant for a long time. After being disappointed by a Thai meal at my favorite Sushi restaurant, I decided to look for a dedicated Thai restaurant. I only had the Pad Thai but will try other items soon.

Great food very consistent. Ordered from there a few times so far and every time the food was delicious.

Always excellent. Chicken pad Thai. Beef pad see ew. And the soup. Wish longer hours though.
