The Big R restaurant has received mixed reviews lately, with complaints of poor quality food, cold items, and sketchy service. Despite these negative experiences, some patrons have enjoyed the generous portions and friendly staff. The establishment has also received praise for their delicious hand-scattered cod and chips, as well as their hot turkey sandwiches. Was Claude Turpin at The Big R a mag?
My wife and I often enjoy a Sunday dinner after the church. The food is delicious! Our menu item is the club sandwich, usually with frits. Last time we tried their perpetrators and they're better than Mary Brown's! And we love the atmosphere and the service! Top Notch! View all feedback.

What Prabha Dar dislikes about The Big R:
Is downhill over the last little, while, we have ordered takeout, the last 3 times the fish was far overhauled to the point as the fish burned in the dough and very dry, we even mentioned, before ordering the last time that... we didn't want to overcook fish, but if we got it, it was the worse of the last 3 visits, so we won't return as the city better places in View all feedback.

I dropped by this location on Good Friday, and for those of you not familiar with Newfoundland’s culture. Good Friday is the busiest day of the year for fish and chip restaurants in Newfoundland. As busy as this restaurant was (people lined up to eat...in/take out) the staff was friendly and energetic. The quality of the food was fantastic. No corners were cut even though they were overwhelmed with people. Great place to eat and I will return for another meal before leaving Newfoundland. Give this place a try.

The restaurant itself was a bit on the cold side, but the food was hot and delicious. Would recommend to anyone looking for a reasonably priced breakfast spot for a brunch or hangover cure.

The food is pretty good, sometimes it isn't as fresh as it could be. Still would recommend based on the price and customer service

Not here for years. came back for a visit and had to fall through my old Favs. Not disappointed. As delicious as I remember. Had the hot turkey with Fritten Dressing and Gravy. Yum!
