The concierge mike in delta hotel has a reservation for our group of 12 and we are so happy for its recommendation. the first impressions were very friendly parking companion and host. the view from this restaurant is absolutely stunning. we were thrilled by the taste of every plate. from the salmon, the tender, the healed to the rosensalat and the truffled frying of brussel – we were impressed by the different mix of aromen! service was top notch...knowing, attentive and efficient. would highly recommend this restaurant.
I ate here twice, while in st. john’s for a short stay. the food and service was excellent and the setting was very comfortable. I will definitely return!
I dined at this restaurant twice. The first meal was outstanding, especially the salmon. However, on the second visit (Father's Day), we waited an hour for our food despite ordering only a main dish. While it was busier, our waitress barely attended to us and never checked on us or offered a second drink. She only apologized for the long wait. I noticed other servers taking good care of their customers. Additionally, the atmosphere was cool, but we felt neglected and cold while sitting there.
Great views, great drinks, great food. The 2-bone pork chop was well worth the noted wait time! Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: $50–60 Parking space: Plenty of parking
My husband and I recently booked a “Winter Getaway” package at the Courtyard by Marriott on Duckworth Street. The package included a $50 voucher towards a meal/drinks at the Vu Restaurant next door. We made reservations at the Vu for 8 p.m. and arrived around 7:50 p.m. We were led to our table by a very rude waitress who did not welcome us, tell us her name, etc. We sat down and she said “We do not have any tenderloins or scallops, I’ll be back to take your order”! I immediately said to my husband, “she is not in a very good mood, either that or she hates her job”! We waited at least 10 minutes before she came back to ask what we wanted to drink. I had wine, my husband had rum and pepsi. I asked for water as well, which she did not automatically serve us when we sat down. We had our wine and drink and still no water. We had our wine and drink gone, still no food and still no water. I had to wave her down and ask for another drink and the water again. She said “oh you read my mind” I’m not sure what that meant by that but she should have brought us water 20 before that and I shouldn’t have to read her mind! She brought our second drink and the water and basically through the jug of water across our table, I had to stop it from sliding off the side. She didn’t offer any explanation as to where our food was. We are now on our second drink and almost 45 minutes sitting without food or any explanation, not even an offer of some bread while we waited. To make matters worse, my husband said to me that he didn’t think his drink had any liquor in it, I tasted it and we both agreed it did not have any alcohol and had to wave her down again to return the drink, she made an excuse that the pepsi machine wasn’t working properly, we both wondered what that would have to do with the fact that there was no alcohol in the drink! So we have our second drink gone, still no food or any sign of our waitress to let us know what was happening. We are now almost 70 minutes without food (our order was a chicken sandwich dinner and a striploin dinner medium well, nothing complicated). We decided to leave, we couldn’t find our waitress to let her know we were leaving so we decided to go across the road to a deli and pick up a quick meal and take it back to our hotel, we planned to return the $50 voucher to the hotel and ask them to send it to the restaurant to cover our drinks. As we were crossing the road to the deli, the waitress came into the street yelling at us, we told her our service was ridiculous and we would straighten up our bill with the hotel. When we got back to the hotel with our take out suppers, they were mortified, it was almost 9:30 and the hotel is only 1 minute walk from the Vu. Terri, the hotel receptionist refused to charge us for the voucher and said she would contact the restaurant, she couldn’t believe we had been gone for almost an hour ½ and still had no food and had to get take out at the deli. Myself and my husband have never been treated so badly at any restaurant ever. This was our valentine’s night out, we’ve been married 30 years and sadly the way we were treated at the Vu was ridiculous to say the least. My opinion on the Vu is if they think you are not “big money” you are treated as a second class citizen and your opinion doesn't matter. That’s surely how they treated us.
