I stopped by this place while passing through Springfield, and I definitely don't regret it. I enjoyed a delicious bacon cheeseburger.
This was our first experience dining at Ridgewood Cafe. After reading numerous reviews for restaurants in Springfield, I chose to give Ridgewood a try. The food was outstanding, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was wonderful! Our waitress, Lisa, truly went above and beyond!
We were in search of a restaurant that wasn't part of our usual rotation. After a quick look at nearby places, we decided to give this spot a try, especially after skipping the typical chain restaurants. Had we known it would have been smarter to make a reservation beforehand, we certainly would have. I suppose that's a good sign, right? While the seating for reservations was first come, first served, our server was prompt in taking our drink and appetizer order as soon as we sat down. We shared the cheese curds, which were absolutely fantastic. My wife chose the mango salmon, my son had the chicken carbonara, and I went for a full rack of ribs, substituting coleslaw for macaroni and cheese. My son’s pasta was delicious, my wife’s salmon was excellent, and the ribs were very good. The fries were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and the macaroni and cheese should really be rebranded as "macaroni IN cheese," because there was so much cheese that it could keep a lesser person satisfied for three days—though I certainly have no complaints! I absolutely love macaroni and cheese, and this dish was outstanding! Excellent service, fantastic food, and a wonderful atmosphere made for a memorable experience. This place is definitely a hidden gem, and we will be returning. The menu is packed with tempting options, and we look forward to trying more dishes next time!
This is a comfortable and inviting pub and cafe. The decor reminds me of industrial with piping, gauges, and dials on the walls. The bar area is large, and the establishment is clean. They have a dozen beers on tap. This visit, it was seat yourself, and we were immediately greeted, and our beer order was quickly brought to the table. Our server then got busy as we waited maybe 15 minutes to order food. The kitchen was quick on getting it out. We had the Texas roll wontons with Thai chili dipping sauce. The wontons were good, but we could not find the jalapeño inside, therefore they were very mild. I had the country chicken sandwich. The chicken breast was huge, overlapping the bun. The chicken was tender and flavorful, a great tasting sandwich. My wife had the Cuban. She mentioned the pork needed to be seasoned a bit more aggressively, but otherwise, it was a good sandwich. Our server was friendly, and this was, overall, a good dining experience.
