I was pleasantly surprised by my meal at this restaurant, as it had been years since my last visit. I ordered the Michigan Ave. Pizza and it was one of the best pizzas I have ever had! It...
The restaurant closed down. They served delicious brick oven pizzas and my wife loved the blueberry bread pudding. It's sad to see it shut down.
I have always enjoyed the food at this restaurant, especially their pizzas. Unfortunately, I just found out that the restaurant will be permanently closing on September 24, 2022.
We 've been coming here for 2 years relatively consistently. The food is much better quality than the typical diner fare around Springfield, with a more thoughtful approach of ingredients and menu choices. It isn 't 'fancy ' per-se and the atmosphere is very relaxed, but the food is good, staff is always pleasant, and we always walk out glad we came.
We were celebrating a birthday. Service started slow, but we got our appetizers about 20 after we were seated (toasted ravioli and cheese bread). Then service simply stopped. 50 minutes after our appetizers, three of our entrées arrived. The calzone was great, Boss Frank Zito pizza was good but the Michigan Avenue pizza was overdone just short of the point where I would have sent it back. The waitress reported that the fourth entree had been burned too badly to serve and was being remade and would be removed from the bill. 20 minutes later (that is, an hour and 10 minutes after the appetizers and a full 90 minutes after we arrived), the fourth entree Margherita pizza finally arrived. My son reports it was very good, but not worth the wait. Finally, an hour and 45 minutes after we arrived, a complementary dessert arrived for our birthday boy. The rest of us weren 't even offered the chance to order dessert. During our nearly 2 hour oddessy, each of the four of us got a single refill on our drinks. My wife and I had dinner back in 2019 and that was wonderful, with outstanding food and spectacular service. What happened?
