Was passing by and tried them based their high reviews and mention of sunset view. View: incredible sunset over the plaza. The staff was friendly and checked in a reasonable amount. The menu was average. Food was ok. Cocktails were solid. Crack bread was a bit stale and not as exciting as anticipated. Steak wasn't as tender or flavored as hoped and the chicken sandwich was average pub grub. Based on all the other wonderful reviews maybe I just came on an off week.

I chose Civil Kitchen since we 'd never been and it was for an early Mother 's Day celebration. The place is clean enough, but the staff reminded us of a bunch of sullen, moody teenagers. Not a smile to be found. We came early Sunday evening and it wasn 't particularly busy, yet it seemed forever before we got service. Once the orders were taken and 1st drinks delivered, our waitress didn 't return to us again until she was about to pass us by for the fourth time, without checking on empty drinks or picking up the dirty dishes, when I gave her my Mom look that would let my children know when they were in trouble and she literally stopped in her tracks and said, Yes, ma 'am? I told her we 'd like our drinks refilled (more money for them! , to take the appetizer dishes, and we would be requiring more attention than she had been giving. She said, Yes, ma 'am again and took off after our drinks and she did correct her behavior. The food took a really long time to come out. I ordered steak medallions with a maple glaze, carrots, mashed potatoes. The steak, I ordered medium rare. It was medium well. There was one piece of carrot on top of each piece of steak, like a garnishment. I didn 't think to take a picture before eating them, it was pretty laughable. My son ordered a fish sandwich with cheese. The cheese was cold, hard, not even semi melted. The prime rib French dip was the best meal on the table and their fries are nicely seasoned. For 3 meals, 2 sodas, 2 mixed drinks, our tab was $101.50 not including tip. A bit much for what we got.Parking: There is free parking in the public lots but that 's a bit of a walk, over a city block away.

We started our meal with the crab beignets, which were absolutely delightful. I ordered the Black-n-Blue salad and a bowl of French onion soup, while my wife chose the Breakfast Burger. The salad was excellent, but unfortunately, the soup was a bit bland. As for the burger, we found the prices—both for it and the rest of the menu—to be quite high and somewhat pretentious. The sauces offered, such as blueberry ketchup and Honey Habanero syrup, didn’t really enhance the dishes in my opinion. Additionally, many of the meals featured a mix of sweet and salty flavors, which I'm not particularly fond of. On a positive note, I really enjoyed a beer flight, which was a nice touch. If those flavor combinations appeal to you, I recommend giving them a try to see for yourself. The service was excellent, which was a highlight of the experience. Later that evening, we decided to indulge in all three desserts, which were quite similar: two slices of cake or brownie with a scoop of ice cream in between. One was chocolate-based, another was an ooey gooey butter cake, and the last was pumpkin spice (seasonal, of course). All three were delicious and definitely worth a visit.

Fantastic place in the heart of downtown! We were seated quickly, and our server took our drink orders right away. The food was excellently prepared and absolutely delicious. The burger was among the best I've had in quite a while. I chose a salad, which was equally delightful. All in all, it was a wonderful experience. If you’re nearby, be sure to give them a visit!
