Hiking though the area, we were advised to stop for lunch at Volare, the only restaurant for miles around this vast plain of Umbrian farmland. It was Mother's Day, and we fell into the restaurant as it was jammed with families celebrating with an afternoon long meal. I think the staffers felt sorry for us in our muddy boots, and between our broken Italian and their broken English, we landed the one free table in a corner, surrounded by the festivities. Lunch never tasted so good we feasted on the local strangozzi pasta with truffles, salads, biscotti and a delightful fizzy white wine served on tap. The servers' kindness, the excellent food and our afternoon as unwitting party guests will be a great memory of our trip.
Well it’s set on an airport.....welll a small grass one with little boutique shelters. Took the 10 E menu and tacked 11 E in drinking etc onto it. Got great grazing plates of multitudinous variety......then pert piazzas with interesting flavours. Finished with great gelato. Staff dressed in mock airline uniforms added to the ambiance. Planes do come and go and a good one for cheap grazing.
We decided to dine here based on the great reviews and it definitely didn't disappoint. It's a casual little restaurant on Via di S. Giovanni in Laterano street and within walking distance from the Colosseo. The service was great! Although there was a language barrier, our waitress was very warm, friendly, and attentive. I got the fettuccine with prawn and eggplant and OMG I LOVEEED it! It was everything I was hoping for it to be and more--shrimp was tasty, pasta was cooked to the perfect consistency, and the sauce was creamy yet not heavy. My niece got the ravioli with ricotta and spinach inside and spaghetti sauce on top which she had zero complaints about (for once). With both the service and food exceeding our expectations, we'd both definitely come back here to dine again. I'd also recommend this restaurant to anyone. Ciao!
Had amazing pizzas (Capriciossa and Tartuffo) and excellent service. Recommended for anyone including tourists looking for nonsense great food !
Volare is on a private airfield and the restaurant was full of locals ...both pilots and residents from the local towns of Trevi and Montefalco .The food wat certainly up to the best local standards and we were not disappointed in any of the varied dishes we tried. Sitting outside in the warm spring sunshine was really easy and we were lucky enough to be treated to an impromptu areobatics display from one of the locals Satisfying his urge to fly.
