Ming Wah - Spokane
Ming Wah
Description
Ming Wah, a beloved staple of Spokane's dining scene, has garnered mixed reactions recently. While longstanding patrons reminisce about its once-excellent American-Chinese offerings like almond and orange chicken, many express disappointment over a noticeable decline in food quality and portion sizes. The shift to takeout-only service post-pandemic has left some yearning for the inviting experience of dining in. However, new customers are drawn to its extensive menu and generous portions, finding value in the flavors despite occasional inconsistencies. As loyal fans weigh their options, the search for balance between tradition and change continues for Ming Wah.

There is no indoor dining, which is tragic because this place is a well-preserved gem on the inside! Solid quality American-Chinese food. Food was still hot at pickup, The fried food was crisp and not overdone. Meal was a bit lacking in vegetables, and the egg foo young was a little bland, but service was fast, prices were more than reasonable, and staff was personable at pick-up.
I wanted to try this place and I was craving rib tips... Saw them as an appetizer 12.50 and rice 3.75 ... I figured at least I'll get a plate of rib ends like it's stated in the menu. Well it was a RIP OFF! I WAS CHARGED almost 19 dollars for a tiny bag of rib ends. Tiny as in 5 dollars worth if that. I was in shock, so here I am . Terrible, just ripping new customers off!!
The food was terrible, threw it away. I have been here many times prior, but the food keeps geeking worse. I will not return now. No sit down service, have to wait outside after you order food. So disappointed. Came in around 4 pm, six homeless folks in parking lot. I’m out would give a zero if possible. Want my money back ?
I've been a loyal customer for many years, but today I was quite disappointed. The almond chicken tasted burnt, and the chow mein was terrible. The crispy noodles were overly greasy, the shrimp was mostly batter, and the portions were smaller than I remembered. Before the pandemic, the food was excellent, but since then, both the quality and quantity have noticeably declined. We've found a new favorite spot on Sprague and Freya that will be our go-to from now on. Thank you for all the years, Ming Wah, but I think it’s time for us to explore a new restaurant.
I've had some decent experiences, but this last order will be my last. The sweet and sour pork was completely dry—perfectly crunchy and fully dehydrated. The prawns (or shrimp, whichever you prefer) were also dry, resembling a crispy string of protein encased in a dried-up batter. As for the white rice, it had a strong bleach smell and taste. I ended up having to throw everything away since going back to the restaurant wasn't an option.
