Attracted by its good atmosphere we came back to this place after having a walk through half of Speyer looking for a restaurant. We were sooo happy in the end, that we decided for the Kardinal2. We can absolutely recommend the dish Himmel und Hölle (sky and hell). It was the best Blutwurst and Leberwurst we ever had. Even better than in Cologne!! They serve perfect wines for very farir prices. The waitress was perfectly nice, funny and she really spoiled us by just looking after us hungry pack perfectly. Thank you for having us! It was awesome!

I had Reisling, a sa... read more I ate my first Rhineland-Palatinate dinner at Kardinal2 and it was superb. The service was friendly, the food was comforting and delicious. I had Reisling, a salad with hot sheep's cheese (only sounds strange), and a traditional creamy potato dish that made me think of gnocchi but was nothing like it. My husband had a pork steak in an orange gorganzola sauce. He loved it. For dessert, we had apfel flammekuchen (giant apple pizza) that was outrageously fantastic. The decor is fresh, artistic and a bit modern which contrasts nicely with the ancient feel of the streets of Speyer right outside the window. I was in Germany for a week, so this was my only visit to Kardinal2, but my husband works in Germany quite a bit, and he has been there three times since January. Enjoy!
