Description

Nestled in the heart of Borough Market, Cafe Brood presents an intriguing culinary landscape, primarily celebrated for its flavorful paella. While some patrons laud the rich seafood and chorizo varieties, others lament recent declines in service and ingredient quality, suggesting a shift to accommodate tourist tastes. Despite mixed reviews on staff demeanor, the restaurant has earned a reputation for its vibrant atmosphere and substantial portions. Its Mediterranean offerings extend beyond paella, including lamb kofta and hearty burgers, making it a worthwhile pitstop for food lovers exploring this bustling market. However, discerning diners may want to manage their expectations.

I had a paella to take away which was pretty good and reasonable value given the location. I question the hygiene and customer service though. While waiting I took two wooden forks from the counter and a female member of staff then grunted at me that there would be a spoon in the order when I collected it and stuck out her hand demanding the wooden forks back! I said it would surely be unhygienic to use them as I had handled them but she took them and put them back in a cupboard clearly intending to use. Really rude and pointless (total value of forks 0.001 p I would imagine) as well as a health hazard. I do not have any infectious diseases that I'm aware of but even so. Price per person: £10–20 Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

It was a lovely experience for lunch. Burgers for all and I enjoyed their bratwurst sausage sandwich! Service was quick and enjoyable. If you're looking for some burgers and a nice outlook to enjoy an afternoon, this place would be it. I highly recommend it for any new lookers or returning lads. Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

The restaurant has an excellent city vibe, with an authentic and enjoyable atmosphere. The Jambalaya is incredibly tasty!

We visited Borough Market for the first time and had plenty of dining options to choose from. We decided to try out Brood and both ordered the seafood paella for lunch. It was absolutely delicious and we were not disappointed. The restaurant was a bit crowded when we arrived but the experience improved as we dined. The prices were very reasonable as well. We highly recommend this place!
