Contribute FeedbackNestled in the charming village of Hawkshead, this restaurant offers a blend of typical pub fare and mixed experiences. While some diners rave about hearty meals and excellent breakfast options, others express disappointment with the service, describing it as slow and unwelcoming. The atmosphere has garnered criticism for its cleanliness, and a few have noted cramped seating arrangements detracting from the overall dining experience. Despite these inconsistencies, the restaurant still attracts patrons with its well-presented dishes, including the celebrated steak pie and flavorful takeaways. Overall, it's a venue with potential, though improvements in service and ambiance are needed.
We stopped by for a drink before our reserved birthday dinner later that night. The server was unfriendly and abruptly told us where we couldn't sit, making us feel like misbehaving schoolchildren. We returned for dinner later and found the starter to be just alright, but the steak was pleasant, although slightly undercooked for a medium doneness. Overall, the meal was tasty but a bit expensive. Would we come back again? Maybe.
I dined at this restaurant one evening during my stay in Hawkshead. The food was typical pub fare, but I was not particularly impressed. The atmosphere felt a bit dirty and could use a thorough cleaning inside.
We ate here last week one evening and had a couple of beers in outside at other points during the week. We both had the steak pie which was nice as it was real short crust. Chocolate brownies afterwards were fairly off the shelf. Good social distancing of tables, except the one right under the bar which thankfully we didn't have. Would have expected serving staff to be wearing masks?
We had a fantastic stay at this warm, friendly and delightful place. A couple of days away did us the power of good. We were treated so well the staff were an absolute delight couldn't do enough for you. A credit to the owners. The room was small but cosy and quaint loved it. The bed was very comfortable we slept very well. The food was excellent. The breakfasts were varied and very tasty. Large portions of scrambled eggs which I couldn't eat but were lovely. We dined here too and the food was wonderful. Full of flavour and well presented. Definitely recommend The Kings Arms in Hawkshead for staying and dining. Can;t say enough about this place a little gem in a beautiful little village.
We had a wonderful meal at the Kings Arms and highly recommend it. I find it unnecessary for this site to have a 100 character minimum for reviews like this.
