We went to this restaurant for a drink and decided to look at the menu. The food looked just as good as it sounded. My wife ordered the gammon and I had the Cumberland sausage and mashed potatoes. We ended up trying each other's meals and both were excellent. The prices were reasonable too. We also visited some other pubs in the village, but ultimately decided to return to the King's Arms as it was our favorite. View all feedback.
What Wanderer47006822278 doesn't like about Kings Arms:
We called in to the Kings Arms for a quick drink and the customer service was nothing short of rude and appalling. The 2 mature ladies serving on need to take a look at themselves and consider how they welcome people into the pub. I heard several people in the pub muttering how miserable the staff were. I felt that I inconvenienced the staff by asking for a drink. I certainly won’t be visiting here again the faces on... View all feedback.
This once vibrant pub was dead on a sunny Saturday afternoon. After going in and buying drinks I now know why. £18.50 for 2 pints and 2 halfs. It was £6.30 for a pint of San Miguel! We sat outside looking at the dead plants in the window boxes…it’s grotty. This is such a shame. We have visited many times over the last 20 years and it was always a good pint with a good atmosphere. Give this pub a miss. There’s cheaper and cleaner alternatives.
This was some of the worst food we have ever eaten (actually we didn 't eat it). We had the displeasure of waiting 2.5 hours for our food. Which, although this was 1.5 hours over the wait time we were advised, we have had food that can only be described as not fit for consumption (including my dog). I 'll attach pictures of a burger we had, in which the bacon hadn 't touched the pan and the burger resembled an rubber erasure from school. The gravy I had with my steak pie, could have been held over my head like a meringue mixture. On top of that, one of us got our meal 25 mins before the rest of us (5 ppl in total). We heard the chef in the toilet saying I can 't wait to finish, I can 't be bothered . Honestly,I don 't usually write reviews but this is one of the only reasons social media is beneficial, to advise others on what to expect. Not good at all, we advised staff and nothing was offered in way of apology. Poor at best.
I left 2 voice messages and sent 2 emails to try and book a table on 28th June. I received no replies. When we arrived in Hawkshead on 28th, I discovered the restaurant was closed that evening. It is a shame that no one had the courtesy to return my calls/messages.
Had drinks here on a few days of our holiday. Landlord was super friendly and the place has a nice atmosphere. Lakeland lager was good
