Contribute FeedbackNestled in a breathtaking location, this café offers stunning views alongside a varied menu catering to diverse dietary needs. While patrons have praised the friendly staff and quick service, experiences have been mixed. Some diners found the food quality inconsistent and portions underwhelming, leading to disappointment, particularly with takeaway presentations. Despite these critiques, many visitors cherish the café for its charming ambiance, delightful cakes, and well-crafted dishes like the banana Bombay curry. Overall, while it holds immense potential, a consistent approach to service and food quality could elevate this beloved spot to new heights.
Great spot for views and the amazing Brantwood Lunch sadly at the cafe not up to much. Had home made bao buns with crispy duck. If it had said starter maybe fine as literally two forkfuls of duck so very disappointing…
Super menu, great for families and dietary needs. Great service and atmosphere, will definitely be back. The Christmas events are excellent too!
Walked here (about 40 mins) in the aftermath of The Great Cumbrian Snowstorm slipping and sliding on the icy road. The Terrace had been closed for four days due to the snow, but its website said it was reopening that day. What it didn't tell us was that there was no food! Bit of a chat with a friendly waitress and she conceded that she could do two toasted teacakes. The were the worst teacakes of my long life (I'm 78). Preparation must have been as follows: take a two week old teacake, cut in half, bake in a slow oven until rock hard all through, leave on the counter until cold, serve with a pat of butter so ice cold it would not have melted on a hot fresh teacake. But what the hell? Five stars for opening at all in these conditions, for providing a destination for our walk, a roaring fire and a nice glass of wine. A great day to be alive, the snowscapes were magnificent, the sun shone (albeit briefly), and so rare for the Lake District the silence was tangible. Give me more days like this. Please.
The festive menu started today and we had delicious festive hot chocolates with slices of tiffin. It was really lovely. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. I would highly recommend this wonderful place.
The food looked delicious however we were unable to try the full range of food. We had planned to go here for lunch and arrived at around 1:30pm but unfortunately an event was taking place so not only was there no where to sit in doors, every table outside was dirty and all had used crockery and mugs on which was a shame. When we went in to order we were told they were only serving tea/coffee and cakes. We weren’t given a menu of what they did have so weren’t sure what drinks they had to offer and when I asked if they had anything savoury like a bag of crisps or sandwich I was told no. We settled for some cakes as we had come all the way to try this place. My partner had a scone which was huge and he really enjoyed and I had a brownie which was very soft but ultra rich and chocolaty. I also had a delicious cappuccino. The scenery was beautiful and the gentlemen at the register was polite but seemed very stressed as there was a lot of people hoping to get something more substantial than the cakes on offer. He also seemed to be the only staff member cleaning the outside tables and serving food to guests so things took quite a long time. It might be worth getting some more staff in when there is an event like this and perhaps pre-making a selection of sandwiches to sell to people in need of lunches when an event like this is on.
