Description

Route 14 in Sooke, BC is a popular spot with a lively atmosphere and great service. While there were limited options for vegans, the menu had a good variety for other diners. Reviews were mixed on the veggie burger, but the pulled pork sandwich and beef burger were both delicious. The small-town, local bar feel of the place added to its charm. The food was well-presented and delicious, with standout dishes like the beet salad and crispy fries. Server double checked with the chefs what dressings were vegan. We went for the Avocado Hummus and pita chips, a bowl of fries and the Kale Beet salad with no cheese and subbed in Sun-dried tomato vinaigrette (Greek dressing was also vegan). Was sad to see the veggie burger wasn’t able to be made vegan.

The service is great, the server was apologetic there weren’t many vegan options. There is egg in the veggie patty so it’s a no-go for vegans. We ordered the beet salad (pretty much the only other option besides a side of fries) which has honey in the vinaigrette if that’s an issue for you.
