True Grounds - Somerville
True Grounds
Description
Tucked into Somerville, this cozy, quirky café is beloved for warm staff, strong beans, and satisfying breakfast sandwiches and pastries, with indoor and outdoor seating and local art. Regulars praise its homey vibe and creative spreads, but recent inconsistent kitchen hours, order errors and uneven drink quality — from watery lattes to bitter chai — have left customers wary. Small staff and waits can be offsets, yet many still return for the neighborhood charm.

The bagel was quite pricey, and I wasn't asked if I wanted it toasted, which meant I ended up with an untoasted one. The tablet at the counter suggested a minimum tip of 18%, despite the lack of service. The place was really busy. I ended up going home and toasting the bagel myself.
My favorite local coffee shop has amazing food, delicious drinks, and a friendly staff. The wall colors are a bit strange, but that doesn't change my opinion—definitely a 5-star place!
I wanted to try this restaurant that I had heard about back in 2009, and I was pleased with my experience. The place was clean, and the sandwiches were fresh and delicious, just like the coffee. It had a great vibe! Fast forward to June 19, 2016—I have been a regular for years, and every time I bring a new client or visitor, I consistently receive rave reviews about True Grounds.
I enjoy this place for its atmosphere. It's a small and unpretentious spot with a cozy area filled with tables to relax at. The coffee is quite good, but anything more elaborate may take a little longer to prepare.
