Visit of 3 generations. Excellent kitchen. Reduced. Creative. With passion on the plate. Selected ingredients. All right. A real buddy. We like to come back. The kitchen is unfortunately a little before the service. View all feedback.
What Nikolaos Weiss dislikes about Wipperaue:
Wipperau has been transformed into a very attractive location for wedding and other celebrations. Its riverside beer garden is a lovely spot to have a drink and light meal. However, the beautifully situated outdoor dining experience at the front side of the hotel lacks trained...staff. They are polite but inefficient and slow. The food can be described as average. A pity, the place has such potential, it just needs t... View all feedback.
What a beautiful part of Germany. I highly recommend eating at the restaurant and if you do, ask for Frau Hoddzic she is absolutely brilliant.
We have visited this restaurant last week for dinner and we were very delighted by the food, the service and the interior.A lovely place to unwind and relax with friends. It is equally good for business meetings.Apart from standard menues they offered a very creative dish which was a combination of slowly cooked chiecks of a young pig with a super sauce. Apart from the chickes the dish included wonderfully tasting snails and walnuts and was served on a risotto bed.We learned that the kitchen chef will leave by the end of the year and will be succeededby a lady cook. So we do not know how things will progress but if they maintain the level we experienced it is a great place to stay. There is so much to add to our comments but we do not want to disclose too much. The wine list is excellent and even the wine by the glass is great and moderately priced. Why did I use the title risotto challenge??Simply because I told our waiter coming from Spain that I do not like risotto so much and he replied" Sir we would be delighted to take up this challenge" That was for me a stylish reply and the taste really convinced me.
I have stayed here on multiple occassions as it is near our offices in Germany. The hotel is beautiful in a great little location. It has an amazing history to it that you can read in the reception area and they have taken great care in the refurbishment of the building. The whole things feels amazingly well built with hard woods and stoen used throughout, giving it a solid feel that is diffidult to explain until you experience it yourself.Breakfast is served in the restaurant in the mornings and is of a high quality and is always a highlight of the stay for me.There are two issues I have with this hotel, firstly the restaurant which is closed on Mondays, well actually they pretty much close the entire hotel down and on at least one occassion there were no staff on site at all, even at reception as they had all left. The other issues is that the rooms have no air conditioning and they get amazingly hot and there is no way to get cold air into them, although not untyupical of German hotels it is none the less an issue that I hate.I woudl still stay here again despite my little grieveances as cost and quality of the hotel are great, though I would avoid Monday nights :)
Hiking trails in beautiful surroundings (forest, sloping rocks, workshop houses.. The paths at the Wupper are usually undisturbed and therefore sometimes very muddy. But no problem with the right shoes.
