We stayed in a charming room within the historic station building that featured a large balcony overlooking the water, which offered stunning views—definitely the highlight of our visit! The room itself was comfortable, the staff were friendly and accommodating, and we savored a delightful seafood dinner at the restaurant. View all feedback.

Staff The staff was very helpful and pleasant. Lighthouse I rented the top floor. They had just renovated it. They selected excellent materials and hadn 't taken new pictures yet. I was pleasantly surprised. I tend to evaluate a place based on many things and one is the bathroom. The shower was a great size and perfect if you shared it with someone. I didn 't use the tub because I have one at home like it but also it was perfect for a romantic stay. It was a beautiful place with a king size bed which worked nicely for two single ladies celebrating their birthdays. Clean The place was VERY clean and maintained. Beautiful! Newly renovated. Quiet The lighthouse is just far enough away from other people to make it very quiet and tranquil. Remember to pick up tea supplies and creamer from the check in lobby so you don 't need to make a run in the morning. Also ice, if needed for a cold drink after those hot baths or during. Bed and Linens The linens were fine, not cheep and very comfortable. Pillows were too. The mattress was a little hard for my taste. I think a pillow top or padding should be added. Easy fix. Location You could walk the distance to the central shopping and eating area but we drove and easily found parking since we went early for breakfast on a weekday. Breakfast Do to Covid, we found breakfast in our room in the refrigerator. It was ok and good enough to get you over the I 've got to eat something feeling but my girlfriend did not touch it because the pastries were something you could get at 7/11. There was a small yogurt and an orange, breakfast food bars and very small ham snacks/sandwiches. I would have preferred they offered muffins from a shop in town where they had EXCELLENT muffins. So after two cups of tea, we headed into town for breakfast. View The view was very pleasant at night and during the day. You could see all around the lighthouse and I even got to watch a egret fishing. Light The lighthouse light comes on at night but it was definitely not to bright in the room. Maybe if you thought about it, it was as bright as a low dimmed night light. Recommendation I would stay there again and recommend it. If you love lighthouses, this is a definite place to stay.

My husband and I stayed here while visiting family. We stayed 3 nights. I’ll start with the pros. The breakfast buffet was wonderful! Shout out to the omelette lady! My omelette was fantastic. I felt very comfortable at the “buffet” (Covid speaking) the bartender/waitress was pleasant and friendly. The view was very nice. Parking was ok. The room was nice, However could use a few upgrades. Bathroom was nice, shower pressure fantastic! Ok.... housekeeping could use some re-training. My bed and bathroom appeared clean. However, there were pretzels nuggets under the chair (we didn’t have any pretzels) and what appeared to be “toothpaste spit” on the container the bathroom toiletries were in. (I washed it off easily, housekeeping should have noticed) also, I had to wash something sticky on the top of the fridge. (Also should have been noticed by housekeeping) I’m hoping that this was a fluke and not “typical” overall of would stay again but please re-train housekeeping, I hate to have to clean on vacation. The deck was lovely, except for neighbors, ugh! I like privacy. A inexpensive partition between decks would have been awesome. Again, I would recommend but please pay attention to housekeeping.

I want to start by mentioning that we secured the best rate by calling the hotel directly. The staff truly exceeded our expectations with their exceptional service. While I could have found cheaper accommodations 25 miles away, staying in Historic Smithfield, VA, right by the water and just two blocks from everything, was worth it! We created lasting memories, and my granddaughter had a fantastic day. During our short stay, we enjoyed several delicious meals and made some wonderful friends. We will definitely choose Smithfield Station again for our next visit with our grandkids.

I was on a business trip for a few weeks, and the staff at the hotel were incredibly accommodating, making sure I had everything I needed. The food at the restaurant was exceptional, with everything cooked to perfection. The bartenders were fantastic; they would see me and prepare my drink of choice, and all I had to do was smile. The location is great for exploring the downtown area. Smithfield Station is a place I will definitely return to and highly recommend.
