A longtime local favorite, Sakura Express blends affordable sushi, hibachi and generous bento boxes with friendly, speedy service and a convenient drive‑thru. Patrons praise steak hibachi, sushi rolls and clean kitchens, making it a casual spot for dates, takeout, or a quick lunch. However recent ownership changes have brought inconsistent quality—fishy sushi, dry meats, missing sauces—and even isolated hygiene issues. Competition from nearby chains and uneven pricing means it’s worth trying, but expect variable experiences.

This restaurant is always a top choice for me. The food is excellent, the prices are reasonable, and the staff is incredibly friendly. If you're looking for a laid-back dining option for a relaxed Friday night, this is the perfect spot to consider.

Since my last review seven months ago, I haven’t returned to this restaurant. It's not that the food, prices, or service were unsatisfactory. The issue lies with competition. Every time I drive by, I see popular spots like Cane’s, Chick-fil-A, Panda Express, and Golden Dragon. While the quality of restaurants is often judged by reviews, I personally enjoy this place. However, I haven’t found the time to return in days, weeks, or even months. The road is quite busy, and most people seem to flock to Cane’s or Chick-fil-A. For those with more time, Golden Dragon is a popular choice. When comparing options, I often choose between Sakura Express and Panda Express. As a busy individual navigating this crowded road, I find myself too frequently at Cane’s or Chick-fil-A. I might opt for Sakura Express during a quick stop, but if I’m at Rouses, Panda Express is usually my go-to. And if I’m looking to relax and enjoy a meal, I'll choose Golden Dragon. If I need gas and a quick drink, Race Trac is my choice. The challenge for this restaurant is its convenience factor, which has faced setbacks similar to the closed establishments nearby. So, what can this place do to remain appealing and convenient? My suggestion is to adopt the successful strategies of Golden Dragon by offering something similar to what Cane’s and Chick-fil-A do: simple, non-fried chicken meals at affordable prices in easy-to-carry containers. If they stick solely to selling fried chicken, fries, and sushi, it may not work for them long-term. If this restaurant could provide consistently good and fresh fried chicken, I would likely stop by more often, especially during peak times when Cane’s and Chick-fil-A have long lines. As someone who appreciates both Peace Chicken and Asian cuisine and often frequents Cane’s, I would be thrilled to see a menu that creatively merges sushi with fried chicken. On a positive note, the food quality here is outstanding! My favorite dish is the Steak Bento Box, which comes with a generous serving of sushi, dumplings, fried rice, steak, vegetables, ginger, wasabi, a drink, and a delicious sauce, all for just $11.25. The variety of soy sauces complements the affordable prices, with the highest priced item being $11.95 for the Steak Hibachi or a similar dish. The flavors are on point, the kitchen is pristine, and the service is friendly. I recommend this restaurant for those looking to hang out with friends or go on a date. It’s important to note that this is a Japanese restaurant, not a Chinese one, and it offers take-out as well. The prices are reasonable and worth a little extra compared to typical Chinese take-out. Overall, it’s a great place to eat, and I look forward to returning for special occasions. I’d rate it an 11 out of 10!

As I heard by the word of the mouth that they have had owners and tbh I can believe it. Their prices have risen and food quality has remained the same or has decreased somewhat. Not the worst place to repair your sushi or hibachi, but not the best.

This place is always a favorite the food is great, the prices are decent and the staff super friendly. Definitely check it out if you're looking for a low key take out option for a lazy Friday night.

We paid $40 for a meal for two, and found ants in their drink machine! We only realized it after finishing the entire cup. The customer service was terrible. I wish I could give it a negative star rating. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of this place!
