Nice fastfood restaurant inside of the gas-station. It's a little bit of all, gasstation, supermarket, souvenirshop and restaurant. Burger is tasty and comes with fries and soda for 2300isk (15€ . Quiet cheap for icelandic standard. Good tasty, friendly staff, clean restaurant area.
For a gas station buffet/cafeteria burger, this was pretty good. The onion jam is tasty, the chili- mayo is plentiful, and the fries were perfectly done. After a day of driving and hiking this was a satisfactory lunch. Additionally, the adjacent minimart has some vegan snacks, like Violife cheese and deli meat slices.
We had two vegan burgers with fries for about 25€. If you eat in, it also comes with a soda. Burgers and fries were okay. When you are really hungry after a snowy day of hiking and driving, then it's absolutley fine. They also serve a vegan soup. The station also has a little shop and sells some other vegan products, I spotted oreos and other vegan cookies, oat milk in the fridge.
We had the home cooked lasagne which was amazing. All food cooked fresh to order, wide grill menu with 2 daily home cooked specials. A great place to stop and eat after a day exploring the National Park.
Had Tenderloin of Pork, unfortunately it was overcooked, quite salty, broccoli and cauliflower just blanched, but I don't mind that, except it hadn't been strained, so plate full of water and when you held broccoli up on the fork, water was dripping out of it! Not great value for the price, quite disappointing as was really looking forward to a good quality dining experience..
