I?ve been cruising through Alaska all week and no one has oysters. The good people of Sitka directed me to the Mean Queen, a classic bar, which has outstanding local oysters.

Had the $9 egg breakfast. It was great. Not too much food, not greasy. Really enjoyed the local kelp hot sauce. It got busier there closer to 9am but still not uncomfortable. Service was attentive and friendly. Very grateful for the quick wifi. I didn'trealize the orange juice was $6, but it is fresh squeezed and delicious.

Was visiting Sitka for a few days and decided to give Mean Queen a try. It was Monday Night Football, but I was able to get a table and waited on timely by Walter considering it was busy. I had the Greek Salad and the Imperial Pie. Both were great as wasthe service!

Came recommended by family who frequent the place. Unfortunately we were not able to spend the time enjoying the facilities because we had to rush to catch the ferry. We ended up with just wings and the particular appetizer of dough, cheese, andpepperoni. Forget the name but something like Royal Balls maybe? Either way, a delicious temptation that would indicate theirpizza is probably pretty tasty. I remember a lot of stairs to enter because it is upstairs. There are large windows with views. What I don't recall is if there is an elevator. May want to check online or call before heading over if stairs are challenging.
