I was excited to try Mimi, expecting a unique experience given its rich history. However, I was disappointed on two fronts: first, the overall experience felt like any typical restaurant, which felt like a missed opportunity to showcase its heritage. Second, the decor, food, and atmosphere didn’t harmonize well—they each seemed to tell different, disconnected stories. The food was presented elegantly, but the service team didn’t seem cohesive, and the atmosphere felt off. On the plus side, we enjoyed the prawn starter, mantou, and Four Seasons Beans, which were outstanding. The eefu mien was overly salty and sweet, though the braised texture was spot on. We had high hopes for Mimi after reading great reviews, but unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. We started with Mimi’s crab and egg dish, followed by seafood fried rice, prawns, and for the main course, we ordered the duck. The air conditioning was excessively cold, making us uncomfortable within the first 15 minutes. The crab starter was quite underwhelming, and while the prawns were decent, they were coated in a sauce that seemed to dominate every dish, which we didn’t enjoy. The cheapest bottle of wine was priced at $90, with no more affordable options available, which was surprising. We were expecting a variety of flavors and sauces, but everything tasted very similar. Thankfully, the duck was excellent, though it came with a hefty price tag of $124. Our bill totaled nearly $300, leaving us rather unhappy given the quality and cost of the meal.
