We have been to Roosters (formerly the olive branch) as new owners took over recently. We went as a small group and had a meal which was really good for both taste, quality and value. The new owners are very friendly, humble and welcoming and appear the type of people even the hardest people could not dislike ! The service was good and had a great atmosphere. We were lucky enough to have chosen to visit on a Friday evening as when we had finished our meal went outside to sit and there was a jamming session where a good mixture of abilities put on a great show and this turned into a brilliant night out ! As it turns out Friday is jamming every week so I would highly recommend visiting then. We had fish and chips (real cod) in crispy batter and proper mushy peas.Very nicely cooked and presented.
Stayed in Messines recently and ate here three times during our week in the area. Tried the English breakfast which was spot on, beautifully cooked. The Sunday lunch was a choice of half a roast chicken or roast beef both of which were very tasty, good helping and excellent quality. The evening meal was freshly cooked to order and again we couldn't fault it. The satay chicken was particularly tasty. The staff are friendly and helpful. We will certainly go again next time we're in the area.
This has just been taken on by new management, new refurbished fresh look. We have had Sunday roast a free times now, it is best to book and reserve the meat you want. Roast dinner is very good with a buffet style where they give you your plate with the meat and a Yorkshire pud on and you help yourself to roast potatoes and veg. There is plenty of choice and all at a reasonable price. Staff are friendly just a little slow on service but better than it was. Would recommend trying it and they have live music sometime.
Good fresh home cooked food, went twice, great hostess very fharminb and happy makes you very welcome
Changed owner's again. Seems to have gone down hill. Basic food, repetative jam sessions. Turned up for advertised kareoke and the manger (alan) couldnt be bothered so we left. There used to be live acts on but nothing happens anymore Its gone back to being clicky. Not the type we want to associate with. Good luck
