We used this restaurant on our last visit 4 years ago and can happily report that, the food is still fantastic and you must try the pumpkin ice cream
Worst dinner we had in a very long time. Couvert was good, but instead of 5€we were charged 8 €(we dont know why). The gambas were very dry, i guess because they were defrosted to quick. But the two Main courses were the worst, the meat (Beef) was extremly dry and the rice was cold. The Piri Piri chicken had no Piri Piri and it resulted in bad stomach problems for me the following day. I guess it was old meat since the restaurant was not busy. There was only one other couple on a friday evening. And the price was rather expensive for the food we had, we would not recommend to anybody to take the long Drive(it is quite hidden) for such bad quality in Food.
A Look from the outside give you the tell tell sign that this is something different, as well as a restaurant it is also a tea-shop, the family are know in the Algarve and often frequent some of the large fairs with their cakes and preserves. The restaurant is packed full of interesting objects and local art which is what gives it a real warm atmosphere. Good traditional Portuguese food is offered daily with a few dishes to choise from but they do have a large menu where you can pre order the day before this may not appeal to some but you know that the dish has been specially prepared just for you. Friendly. staff and good value for money.
Our friends invited us to have dinner at Ribalta because they had such a lovely experience the last 2 times they went and wanted us to get to know it. A little difficult to find but worth the trip, what a lovely place! It is like you enter a typical house, where they sell many kinds of tea, home made things and accessories. The restaurant is very cozy, decorated with antiques and every time I looked around I saw something new. The food is traditional food from the region, very well prepared and very tasty. We could choose between a couple of different plates but we decided to try a bit of everything, so we had a bit of a tapas dinner or petisco in Portuguese. We loved it! The service was very pleasant and the owner was very friendly trying to make us feel at home. We will come back for sure!, great experience!
We visted boxing day evening. We had heard very good reports about this restaurant and have been looking forward to trying it. The couvert was lovely. The rest is negative. The rice was cold. The meat was barely warm. The chips were nice .. hopefully this was a one off as everyone else has raved about it. But i wont go again :
