The Waldhaus is a very old hotel, with a very old clientele and ownership, as a result of which it feels a bit stiff and worn out. While the spa is new and quite impressive, the other parts of the hotel resemble more of a museum. The rooms have no airconditioning, and you may therefore find yourself being buzzed awake by a helicopter flying through the valley at 6am because you left the window open for ventilation. For elderly german-speakers, the concerts and book lectures may form an attraction, but for non-german speakers they have the effect of making you feel a little out of place. The food is excellent in the small ala carte restaurant, but very bland in the main restaurant. The breakfast room appears too small for the large numbers of guests at peak times, so it feels a little like an all-inclusive scrum rather than the quiet philosophers space you perhaps had selected the hotel for. Suggest you order the room service breakfast if you want to avoid the noise. The location is indeed spectacular, but the hiking trails are very crowded, obviously this is not the hotel’s fault, but simply to point out that if you are seeking a philisophical reflective holiday, this may not be the place.
A hotel that embodies the old world charm and elegance. Exceptional hospitality, respectful (and very helpful) staff members, clean and modern bedroom, food and drinks were delicious and nicely done, and above all it is surrounded by beautiful landscape! Stumbled upon this hotel in April because I needed a place for a night after a day ride on Glacier Express. Would love to come back again if I'm in St. Moritz in the future.
