At The Elephant, diners can expect an unpredictable experience. While some guests rave about the vibrant vegetarian tapas, delicious cocktails, and friendly service, others are left disheartened by inconsistent food quality and poor management. Reports of a limited menu, long wait times, and unclean tables create a stark contrast to prior visits when the restaurant was thriving. Patrons lament the lack of basic facilities and ineffective booking systems, indicating issues with new ownership. Despite the contrasting experiences, some guests treasure enjoyable meals, hoping for a return to The Elephant's former glory.

We really enjoyed the variety of vegetarian tapas at this restaurant. There were so many options to choose from, and we can't wait to come back and try more. The menu also had a great selection of drinks at a reasonable price. We were able to enjoy our food and drinks at our own pace, and the staff was lovely. Overall, the atmosphere was relaxed and authentic. View all feedback.
What User dislikes about The Elephant:
so disappointed after almost 100 pounds. some of us feel bad after our experience. there were many dishes that were not available. there was no beer caught. there was a limited bottle of beer selection. they would not offer us a mild version and they said they had no yogurt, but we noticed that there was rita. the toilets were not available for customers and we were sent to another building next door. eating was bad... We had a disappointing experience at The Elephant on a Friday night. We were the only customers in the restaurant and had to ask for the music to be turned on because it was so quiet. The waiter, who was also the chef for the night, took our order for drinks and food. The food took over 50 minutes to arrive, despite us asking multiple times about its status. The Eli burger we ordered turned out to be a bland coleslaw burger with excessive mayonnaise. They even ran out of rice by 7:30pm. To top it off, we found plastic in our poppadoms. The restaurant seemed to be prioritizing takeout orders, as there were numerous deliveroo drivers coming in and out. The constant opening of the door made the place freezing cold. Overall, we would not recommend dining at The Elephant. Ratings: Food: 1, Service: 1, Atmosphere: 1. Price per person: £10-20. Meal type: Dinner.
We have dined at this restaurant several times over the past few years and have always had a positive experience. However, it seems that the restaurant has recently changed ownership and the new management lacks the necessary skills to run a restaurant effectively. We had difficulty booking a table over the phone as no one answered despite numerous attempts. The online booking system was also not functioning properly, so we decided to walk in. Upon arrival, the restaurant was not busy and the only waitress on duty seemed confused that we had come for dinner on a Saturday night. We had to wait for a table to be prepared as the tables and chairs were stacked in a corner, making the place look messy. The complimentary bottle of water provided had a strange taste, possibly tap water instead of filtered. The menus were dirty and sticky, not a great first impression. We ordered drinks but waited a long time for them to arrive, and no food was being served to other patrons who also seemed unhappy. Ultimately, we decided to leave without ordering food and went to another restaurant nearby. The other couple who arrived after us also left due to the poor service. The waitress seemed inexperienced and overwhelmed, and the overall experience was disappointing. We will not be returning to this restaurant. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner.
The food was delicious! I should have requested my curry to be a bit spicier, but I finished everything on my plate and in my bowl. I was unsure if the restaurant was open since there were no other customers, but the staff promptly attended to me. I would recommend this place for a satisfying meal in a timely manner. A hidden gem! The food was phenomenal and a nice change from the usual food round here, full of flavour and would definitely come again! Can’t recommend enough! Bonus that they do great cocktails
