What John Espinosa doesn't like about Hagy's Catfish:
After receiving multiple recommendations, we were eager to try this restaurant. We were promptly seated and our server was efficient and friendly. I decided to order the fried catfish with a side salad and mashed potatoes. The strawberry spinach salad was fantastic, but the fish itself was quite disappointing. The two large fillets lacked flavor, with the only discernible taste coming from the thick cornmeal coating.... View all feedback.
This place has great food and a great story to go with it. the hush puppies were probably our favorite part.
This ranks as one of the best meals I've ever had.Ordered the catfish fillets. Magnificently prepared, light, flakey, good crust, comes with sides and delicious hush-puppies.
After winding your way down to the river your welcomed to an open park like setting for the restaurants overlooking the river. The atmosphere and decor is welcoming. Lodge like really. Service was great as was the food. Good variety but as the name implies they do great catfish dinners. Whole or filet with hush puppies and some of the best slaw I've had in years. Enjoy the history then enjoy the Catfish Hotel for a great meal.
Atmosphere was good. It’s an old historic site right next to the Shiloh National Park. It could be just me from living in Louisiana, but the food was rather bland. The fried green tomatoes and catfish were gummy. The frog legs were good along with the shrimp. If I’m back in the area, I will try it again.
Very good service and the food was amazing as usual. One of the best places to eat catfish around in this area. And great view of the river. A nice sunshine day made it a great trip.
