Public is a tiny haven of the finest drinks, nestled beneath the Grade 1 listed Victorian town hall in what was once the gent’s toilet. This unique space, described as a Wes Anderson train carriage crowbarred into an old bog, is a prism of all things local, reflecting the spirit of its city and seasonality in every detail. A public toilet (conversion) with The Best cocktails. Book, do not hope to just turn up; there just isn't space. Loved it!
Just a huge shout out to both Joe and Amber we had some friends visit from Oxford as we transitioned from 2023 to 2024 and we had such a great experience. I come here fairly often and have done so occasionally since it opened, but the complimentary new years bits as well as the conversations we had on the thoughts behind the menu items were brilliant and left a lasting impression on our guests. Dont usualy write reviews but this place was amazing, wandered in by chance and found a great atmosphere, lovely staff and good drinks. It's small but deffinatly not cramped, we were lucky enough to go at a time when there was space for us but i cant imagine its usually so easy. Would 100% recommend for a fun night out, they also have non alcoholic options for those who dont drink which i realy appreciated. Price per person: £20–30 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
